"Odie! Odie! Odie! Wake up! Sweet mother of heavens, what a beautiful day it is, and on the day of the Chroma Ball! And you're here, sleeping like a log! Gosh, get up, Odie!"
Feeling annoyed, Odie sat up and yawned, slowly removing her eye mask.
"Evie, do you want to know what's even more beautiful?"
"What?"
"Sleep."
After months of exhausting preparation, the most exciting day in KodaCait had arrived- and with it came feelings of tension and enthusiasm. The palace gardens became a hub of activity as florists worked diligently to create breathtaking floral arrangements to adorn the ballroom. The scent of fresh blossoms mingled with the sweet aroma of pastries being prepared in the palace kitchens, adding to the sensory feast that awaited the guests.
At the family table that morning, the King and Queen joyfully revealed to the girls that Posy would be the sister receiving the diamond necklace. The girls exclaimed with joy and offered their shy sister many congratulations and compliments. Mari on the other hand just grunted and stormed off. She was seething with rage after her tantrum the previous night proved to be ineffective.
Isa could feel her head spinning. She grappled with the stress of final preparations, ensuring every detail aligned seamlessly. She had to make sure the orchestra was set up and ready to go, all the pink-coloured food was prepared, whether the decorations were to an acceptable standard, which positions the glass swans would go without causing any damage, making sure the stage could illuminate, and a whole plethora of other things that the king and queen deemed important. The Chroma Ball had to be perfect- since a lot of money had gone into the evening.
On top of that, Isa still had to rehearse with the rest of the group. She had successfully taught Bea the solo, so now she had to learn her part. The youngest girls, their hearts aflutter with both excitement and trepidation, worried about the upcoming dance. As the moment approached, the sisters gathered to try on their performance costumes. They were beautiful, soft pink fluffy dresses with roses that went down to their knees. Isa's was the same design, but in a stunning white which made her stand out amongst her sisters. Isa, realising the white solo dress was slightly too small, urged Bea to try on her costume, a decision that set off a chain of unexpected events. Madame Fontucker, stumbling upon Bea in Isa's costume, erupted in a fit of rage, casting a shadow over the prelude to the grand affair.
Back at the Casmen royal palace, Edris was preparing to leave for KodaCait to support Isa in the Chroma Ball preparations. It was because of him that Isa felt more sane, and as much as she hated to admit it, she needed him by her side. The Zetril twins had come to visit Edris and to send him off to his carriage, and neither of them looked pleased to see him go."Edris, do you really have to go to that Chroma Ball? I still can't believe we weren't invited. I mean, it's like Isadora purposely excluded us." Winona whined.
