CHAPTER FIFTEEN: FOLLOW MY LEAD

Even though the boy wouldn't admit it to Yoko, let alone Xavier, Jaesung seemed almost hesitant to approach Ivory. He couldn't help the smile that broke through his cold expression, not when he saw the girl dancing joyfully, momentarily having forgotten about the drama that went down beforehand. She moved to the beat like it came naturally, twirling around Bianca and Enid like she had no care in the world when the vampire could pretty much imagine the fairy being too shy to dance in any other situation.

It made the boy chuckle and simultaneously slow down as he didn't want to interrupt that, but whoever was in charge of the music seemed to be on his side as the music slowed down just when he arrived in the middle of the dance floor.

Enid saw the boy coming early enough to direct Bianca's attention in the same direction and the two girl's gave Ivory giddy smiles before they decided to head back to where Yoko and Xavier were stood, passing the vampire as Enid gave him a thumbs up.

Surprisingly, Ivory hadn't noticed the boy until he twirled her around so the two were now face to face as Jasung held out a hand for her.

"May I have this dance?", the boy asked and noticed a blush appear on Ivory's cheeks soon after. The girl glanced around shyly, noticing all the couples and other students partnering up to slow dance. Jaesung found it amusing how shy the fairy had gotten all of a sudden and almost let out a chuckle at how she was dancing and singing along to the music just moments ago.

Ivory took a step closer to him and accepted the hand he held out for her when the realisation hit her that she was definitely not prepared to slow dance.

"To be honest, I don't really know how to dance...like formally", the blonde admitted and it lured a singular laugh from the vampire. The boy momentarily turned his gaze downwards to their feet, before he put his free hand on the girl's waist and pulled her closer.

"Just follow my lead", he replied simply, gifting the girl a small but reassuring smile. Ivory couldn't deny how his smile made her feel as if she could trust him with her life and how secure she felt in his hold. The girl let herself be guided by him and while it made her embarrassed how often she almost stepped on his foot, she appreciated how he didnt seem to care.

After a lot of missteps and a few times where Jaesung had to nudge the girl towards the right direction, she deemed slow dancing to be quite enjoyable as well.

They stayed silent for a few moments and while Ivory was mainly stunned by his smooth performance, Jaesung just enjoyed this quiet moment, listening to the song that was playing in the background.

"With the amount of dances a high school organizes, you'd expect a beautiful girl to have dozens of boys fighting over who gets to dance with her", Jaesung spoke up after a while with a mocking smirk, but deep down Ivory knew to take it as a compliment.

Nonetheless the girl had to let out a surprised gasp as she shook her head at his joke. She wasn't sure how or why he knew that about high schools, considering the fact that Ivory was sure it was completely different in his culture, but she decided to just be honest with him.

"That's right, but it may come as a surprise to you that I wasn't the most popular girl. I was the one to sit on the bleachers while my friends were dancing with their dates, so... this is my first proper dance", Ivory admitted with a little sigh, the memory leaving a bittersweet feeling in the pit of her stomach.
