The feeling of being embraced by her parents wasn't something Ivory had forgotten, but somehing she missed dearly. Unlike some of her friends and fellow students, Ivory  was  excited to have her parents at the academy for a day.

Ivory greeted them in the parking lot and immediately threw herself at her father who barely managed to stop them from tumbling to the ground. Her mother was engulfed in a hug soon after and Ivory could sense her mother needing it as much as she did, especially after the  recent events that put Nevermore Academy into a state of fright.

It's been a week since the Rave'n and the news that a fellow student had been brutually attacked in the woods on the night of the dance. Parents were notified and the newfound information had shook Ivory to the core, frightening the girl. She was in class when she and her classmates were informed by Ms. Thornhill and while Ivory never got around to meeting him, it seemed as if Wednesday was friends with the boy. Enid had immediately reported back to her friends that Wednesday had told her that she was the one to find him.

Ivory felt bad for Wednesday and couldn't even begin to imagine what it must've been like to see  the boy like that. Rumour has it that he was ripped to shreds, blood being found miles away. Nobody knew if he was alive, some being of the opinion that he surely must've died, some were convinced that he survived. Ivory never gave much thought to rumours.

The girl got goosebumps just thinking of it and tried to get rid of the thoughts swirling in her head by focusing on the parking lot and all the other families.

Wednesday arrived to greet her family not far from her, she didn't seem barely as excited as Ivory herself though and the fairy couldn't blame her. While she always wore a glum look, that day Wednesday seemed almost mournful.

The whole family seemed like they were straight out of a cartoon, with their all black attire, the gown her mother was wearing and their ghostly pale complexion. Especially the black limousine with it's equally glum looking driver was catching Ivory's attention.

It didn't take long for Ivory to notice that somehow her own family was the odd one out, with the lime green beetle her parents drove, her mothers wild blonde curls and the stains on her fathers light washed jeans. The fairy let out a chuckle and pulled her parents close once again, mumbling on about how she missed them.

"We missed you too honey, oh look at you. How's everything? What about your headaches?", her mother asked the girl, rubbing her shoulders in reassurance. Ivory used to complain about horrible headaches back at home and sometimes they were so strong that they made her want to curl up and not leave her room anymore. She didn't come out of her room for four days once.

She had talked to Principle Weems about them, who confirmed they were signs that Ivory's magic was developing without her knowing, growing stronger the more she was around people. She barely has had them ever since her arrival at Nevermore and while she didn't even notice them disappearing, she was sure it had to do with her actively practising her magic.

"Haven't had many and they're manageable", Ivory replied happily, relieved that she finally found the reason for them. Her father pulled his wife closer with a proud look on his face, urging his daughter to show them the way.

From what Ivory had gathered, Principal Weems wanted all of them to gather in the courtyard of the academy, so that's where she led her parents. In the midst of vampires, vixens and werewolves and gorgons, the family of three stuck out like a sore thumb, but judging by their excitement, Ivory's parents weren't uncomfortable.
