"Y/n" they have a burn book,I roll my eyes playfully at Janice's excitement, my hand resting on my hip. "Janice, slow down! You're shaking me like a snow globe," I say, teasingly. She takes a deep breath, attempting to compose herself, and then drops the bombshell about the burn book.
"When my sister went to Regina's house? Are you serious? This burn book sounds like a teenage conspiracy theory. Almost every girl in there? Are we talking yearbook material or a collection of mean-spirited haikus?" I reply, a mixture of amusement and disbelief in my tone.
"I thought you wouldn't be into any of this stuff considering you lived in Africa for so long" Janice jokes.
I raise an eyebrow, feigning an offended expression. "Oh, please. Just because I lived in Africa doesn't mean I spent my days meditating with meerkats. Contrary to popular belief, I did have a social life in the savanna," I joke, my lips curling into a playful smirk. Janice chuckles,"anyway what about my sister" I question her "Thats cause cady is our inside scoop," Janice replies, I fear for what my sister has gotten into.
like prior too before, I went smoking out by the bleachers, I smirk, taking a drag from my cigarette as I lean against the railing. "Ah, the sweet serenity of rebellion," I mutter to myself before spotting Aaron Samuels, as if on cue. I raise an eyebrow, exhaling smoke with a smirk.
"Well, well, if it isn't Aaron Samuels, the man of the hour. Does he come with his own personal spotlight or is that just the effect he has on everyone?" I joke,
Aaron smirks, his gaze lingering with a hint of curiosity. "High school life got you contemplating, huh?" he comments, leaning casually against the bleachers.
I laugh, a wry smile on my face. "Well, you know how it is. Just trying to navigate the chaos," I reply, blowing a playful puff of smoke into the air.
Aaron, sensing a shift in the conversation, decides to steer it towards upcoming events. "Any exciting Halloween festivities on your agenda?" he asks, a glint of excitement in his eyes. "I'm throwing a Halloween party at my place. You should drop by, Y/n. It's going to be a night to remember."
I raise an eyebrow, intrigued. "A Halloween bash at the Samuels' domain? Color me curious. What's the theme? Are we talking classic horror or something more avant-garde?" I inquire, a smirk playing on my lips.
"Oh, I need to prepare you for this," Aaron smiles.
"What do you mean?" I ask, puzzled.
"Right, Y/n, when girls dress for Halloween, they dress a particular way," he explains with a knowing look.
A lightbulb moment hits me. "Ah, I understand now. You're telling me to dress... sexy," I say, my smirk turning into a grin as I catch on to the unspoken expectations.
Aaron chuckles, nodding. "Bingo. It's not your average costume party, so be ready for some jaw-dropping outfits."
I shoot Aaron a cheeky grin as he explains the Halloween dress code.
"So, like any guy at our school?" I glare at him cheekily. "Is this your way of flirting? Apologies, but I'm not interested, besides I would like someone without a mole rat between their legs," I quip, adding a playful twist to my response.
Aaron raises an eyebrow, a mix of surprise and amusement on his face. "Well, that's one way to shut down a flirtation attempt," he says, a chuckle escaping him.
I laugh, enjoying the banter. "Hey, I like to keep it interesting. Now, if we're done with the flirting 101 lesson, can we get back to the Halloween party plans? I've got a reputation for killer costumes to uphold," I say, steering the conversation back to the upcoming festivities.
"Aaron, there you are," Regina said, grabbing onto his arm as she spotted me under the bleachers with him. Clearly, she assumed the worst. "Why are you talking to this weirdo?" She came up close to me, glaring. Y/n, maintaining composure: "Regina, we were just having a chat. No need for the drama."
Regina looks angrier, "You were trying to make moves on my ex-boyfriend!" I couldn't help but chuckle, and Aaron joined in. Trying to ease the tension, I decided to make a light-hearted remark.
Y/n, with a playful grin: "Oh, Regina, don't flatter yourself. I'm not here to steal your ex. I'm more into bad jokes and, just so you know, I prefer my crushes on women. Men? Not my thing." Regina looked like she was going to combust at my statement. The unexpected revelation seemed to catch her off guard, leaving her momentarily speechless. The air thickened with tension as she struggled to find a response, her usual confidence momentarily shaken. Aaron and I exchanged glances,
"No, you're faking," Regina iterates, her words laced with disbelief and a touch of defiance.
A mischievous grin crosses my face. "Oh yeah? Want me to prove it to you?" I raise an eyebrow, a playful challenge in my eyes.
Regina looks terrified, her composure momentarily shattered. "Ew, get away, you pyro les. No wonder you and Janice get along so well."
I chuckle, unfazed by her attempt to deflect. "Les or not, Regina, I'm not here to fit into your carefully curated narrative. But I must say, the creativity in your insults is quite impressive. Pyro les, has a certain ring to it."
Part of me was very tempted to tell her to write it down in that burn book of hers, but Cady was still the inside man, so I had to refrain. As Regina storms off, Aaron smiles at me. "I must say, I'm impressed. I haven't seen anyone contest Regina like that."
I shrug, a modest smile playing on my lips. "Survival instinct, my friend. I've faced bigger challenges in the wild. "Aaron chuckles,
"Well, you're certainly bringing a new flavour to the drama around here.""Anyway, I gotta bounce. I'll see you at the Halloween party next Friday, all right?"
I nod, returning the smile. "Absolutely, wouldn't miss it for the world. It's bound to be an interesting night."
