"You what" I questioned Cady with a surprised look on my face.
My shock transformed into a mix of disbelief and realization. "Cady, you did that?" I asked, still processing the gravity of her actions.
She nodded, her expression resolute. "I couldn't let Regina get away with cheating especially not someone as genuine as Aaron. The truth needed to come out."
"Cady, what is your motive I ask quizzically? "well I- I just want to make the school even for everyone is all. "no that's not it" I challenge her.
"whatever y/n I have to go I have a study session with Aaron"
"Ding, ding, ding, Aaron is the catalyst in all of this," I announce, then continue. "You want to ruin Regina's life all for a boy?" I could understand exposing her for cheating, but socially isolating her after the show incident was not right.Cady got visibly angry, "You took part in this, Y/n. I wouldn't start acting all high and righteous now."
"The difference is, sis, I haven't changed," I spat, irritation bubbling beneath the surface.
"Yeah, well, maybe you should. You're so low on the social food chain that it's embarrassing me," Cady retorted, pushing my buttons.
A sinister smile played on my lips as I shot back, "Maybe I prefer being genuine over pretending to be something I'm not. But hey, keep chasing popularity. Let's see how long it takes for everyone to see through your act, your changing, Cady and I don't like it"
I could sense a glint of frustration in her eyes as I delivered the cutting remark. Without giving her a chance to respond, I turned on my heel and walked away out of the house, leaving her seething with anger
The cold evening air stung my cheeks as I left the house, my mind a whirlwind of emotions after the heated argument with Cady. I didn't know where to go, so I wandered aimlessly through the dimly lit streets.
As I turned a corner, I stumbled upon a scene that caught me off guard. there, sitting on a bench, was Regina George. The same Regina who always exuded confidence and control. But now, her shoulders were slouched, and her face was buried in her hands. Silent sobs racked her body.
For a moment, I hesitated, unsure whether to approach her or slip away unnoticed. But something in me compelled me to step closer, to offer a word of comfort or just be there. "Regina?" I said tentatively, the name feeling foreign on my lips.
She looked up, startled, her eyes red and swollen from crying. "What do you want?" she snapped, her attempt at composure failing.
I took a deep breath, choosing my words carefully. "erm I didn't expect to find you here. Are you okay?"
Regina let out a bitter laugh, wiping away a stray tear. "Do I look okay? Just leave me alone, Herron, I know you don't really care." I ignore her last comment and take a seat next too her on the cold bench.
"I guess even the almighty Regina George needs a break from ruling the school sometimes, huh?" I attempted to lighten the mood with a small, light-hearted joke. Regina shot me a glance, a mix of irritation and something else I couldn't quite decipher.
"Well, aren't you the comedian now?" she retorted, but her tone lacked the usual venom. I could sense the vulnerability beneath her defensive exterior. It was an unexpected shift, seeing, the Queen Bee, in such a vulnerable state. It went all silent, until Regina gave a light huff and began too open up.
Regina sighed, her guard momentarily down. "You have no idea what it's like, Y/n. Everyone expects me to be this perfect, untouchable queen, but it's exhausting. I feel like I'm constantly under a microscope, and any crack in my façade could shatter everything."
I nodded, realizing that beneath the layers of Regina's tough exterior, there was a person dealing with her own struggles. "Being at the top isn't all it's cracked up to be, huh?"
Regina gave a bitter laugh. "Yeah, you could say that. Sometimes, I wish I could just be myself without judgment, without all the expectations. But that ship sailed a long time ago."
I offered a sympathetic smile. "You know, it's okay to show vulnerability sometimes. It doesn't make you weak. In fact, it takes strength to let your guard down."
Regina looked at me, a mix of surprise and contemplation in her eyes. "You sound like one of those self-help books my mom reads."
I chuckled. "Maybe I've been reading too many of them, but there's some truth in there. We're all just trying to figure things out, even if we pretend otherwise."
For a moment, Regina seemed lost in thought. Then, with a sigh, she said, "Thanks, Y/n. Don't get used to this. It's a one-time thing."
"come on I want too show you something" I hold out my hand standing in front of her. why was I so compelled too help her?
"erm nerd did you not get what I just said, this was a one time thing"
I chuckled at Regina's reluctance but persisted. "Blondie, no offense, but hanging out with me won't worsen your street cred more than it already has."
Regina rolled her eyes but continued to follow me.
we got settled into my car, "is this where I get kidnapped nerd?"
I chuckled at Regina's comment, playing along with her teasing tone. "Kidnap you? Nah, Blondie, I have better taste in abductees. You'd be my last choice."
Regina rolled her eyes, but a smirk played on her lips. "Wow, feeling honoured right now."
"Just think of it as an exclusive VIP tour of the town," I retorted, starting the car. "You get to see all the thrilling sights, like the supermarket and the gas station. Hold on tight, it's going to be a wild ride."
"wait are you seriously taking me too those places,"
"relax, just the gas station," Regina shot me a glare. "I need fuel blondie, then we are going somewhere nice"
Regina laughed, a genuine sound that surprised even herself. "You're not as insufferable as I thought, y/n Herron."
"Likewise, Regina, George, likewise.
