Regina's usually confident demeanour seemed to falter as we arrived at the art show. I could sense her nerves radiating off her. "Hey, you alright?" I asked, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.

At first, she flinched at the unexpected touch, but then she seemed to relax into it. "Yeah," she gave me a weak smile.

As Regina and I wandered through the art show, I found myself increasingly captivated by the diverse array of artworks on display. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with the hum of conversation.

As we moved from one exhibit to the next, I couldn't help but notice the curious glances directed our way. It wasn't unusual for people to stare at Regina, given her status as the former queen bee of the school, but the attention seemed to be focused on us as a pair. I tried to ignore it, focusing instead on the beautiful artwork surrounding us.

Suddenly, a voice interrupted our reverie. "Well, hello there, beautiful," an older woman cooed, her gaze fixed on me. I felt a flush of discomfort rise in my cheeks as she approached, her eyes lingering on me suggestively.

Regina's reaction was immediate. Stepping closer to me, she slipped her hand into mine, intertwining our fingers. "Sorry, she's taken," she declared firmly, shooting me a quick sideways glance.

The older woman's expression shifted from flirtatious to surprised, but she quickly recovered, offering a polite smile. "Oh, my apologies. I didn't realize, I am sure you two are a lovely couple"  she remarked before drifting away into the crowd.

I turned to Regina, surprised by her protective gesture. "Thanks," I said, feeling a rush of gratitude for her quick thinking.

Regina shrugged nonchalantly, but I could see a hint of satisfaction in her eyes. "No problem. Just doing what any good friend would do," she replied, her tone casual but the words holding a deeper significance.

As we approached Janice and Damien, the tension in the air was palpable. Janice's expression hardened as she caught sight of Regina, her eyes flashing with a mixture of resentment and defiance. Regina remained composed, though I could see a flicker of apprehension in her eyes.

"Hey, Janice," I greeted, trying to diffuse the tension with a friendly smile. "Thanks for inviting me. Your art is incredible."

Janice's response was guarded, her voice tinged with scepticism. "Thanks, Y/n. I'm glad you could make it." she spat. glaring at Regina

"Have you seen Cady yet" she then adds

"No, remember she had that thing with you Mom"

"Oh yeah," I say trying to be convincing.

"anyway, I am sure you have met Regina"

"y/n we are having a long conversation later" Janice announces, Damien humms in agreement. I took a step back allowing them too hopefully sort out the animosity that lingered.

Sensing the simmering animosity between them, I took a step back, allowing them to address their issues. Regina spoke first, her tone measured and conciliatory. "Listen, Janice, I know things have been tense between us, but I want you to know that I'm truly sorry for how I treated you in the past. I've done a lot of reflecting, and I realize that I was in the wrong.

Janice's eyes narrowed, her jaw clenched in frustration. "You think an apology is going to fix everything? You ruined my life, Regina. You made me feel worthless, like I didn't belong anywhere. Do you have any idea what that feels like?"

"I fucked up I know, and I don't expect you too forgive me, but I hope we can be civil, eventually anyway". Regina announced, Sincerity clear.

Janice's anger seemed to ebb slightly, replaced by a weary resignation. "Fine. I'll try to be civil. But don't expect me to forget everything that happened."
