under the bleachers.

"Hey," I called out, approaching Regina cautiously as she stood alone in the corner under the bleachers. She turned to face me, her expression guarded yet curious. "What's up?" she questions guarded.

"you don't have to pretend with me blondie, show me how you feel" I announce.

Regina's guarded expression crumbled at my words, her façade slipping away to reveal raw vulnerability. Tears welled up in her eyes as she struggled to maintain her composure. "I'm tired of pretending," she whispered, her voice barely above a hoarse murmur. "I'm tired of being someone I'm not."

I moved in closer to Regina and without warning she crashed her body into mine and buried herself into my neck her arms wrapped tight around me. my body went still for a second almost like it was in shock,

However, feeling her embrace, I held her tightly, offering silent support as she let out her pent-up emotions.

As the minutes passed, Regina's sobs began to subside, replaced by a heavy silence that hung between us like a thick fog. I gently pulled back, keeping my hands on her shoulders as I looked into her eyes, searching for any sign of reassurance.  "Whatever you're going through, I'm here for you," I announce. Acting like I am not melting due to the close contact.

She sniffled, wiping away the tears that streaked her cheeks with the back of her hand. "I'm just so tired of pretending, Y/n," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm tired of being someone I'm not, just to fit in and maintain some stupid image."

I reached up, brushing a stray lock of hair away from her face. "You don't have to be anyone but yourself," I assured her, sincerity ringing in my words. "And anyone who can't accept you for who you are doesn't deserve to be in your life."

"why are you being so nice too me, I have been nothing but a bitch too you"

I paused, meeting Regina's gaze with sincerity. "Because everyone deserves kindness, especially when they're going through a tough time," I replied softly. "And besides, I've seen glimpses of the real you beneath the tough exterior. You're more than just the Queen Bee persona you've created."

Regina's eyes softened, and I could see the flicker of uncertainty in them. "But what if the real me isn't good enough?" she whispered, her voice tinged with vulnerability.

I reached out, gently taking her hand in mine. "The real you is more than enough," I assured her, giving her hand a squeeze

As Regina released my hand, a flicker of regret flashed across her face, quickly masked by her usual composed demeaner. I bit my lip, wondering if I had overstepped a boundary.

"I'm sorry was that too much" I questioned

"what girlfri- friends hold hands all the time" she replies back but her face was a deep crimson. I smirk "so you thing were friends blondie" I make a joke.

Regina's face turned an even deeper shade of crimson at my teasing. "I, uh, I mean... we're... well, you know..." she stammered, clearly flustered.

I couldn't help but chuckle at her response. "Relax, Regina. I'm just messing with you," I reassured her, trying to ease the tension.

She let out a nervous laugh, but her gaze remained fixed on the ground. "Right, of course.  friends," she mumbled, avoiding eye contact.

"so what on the lunch menu today" I take a look at her food

"Just the usual cafeteria mystery meat and soggy vegetables. Nothing to write home about."

 "Sounds like a gourmet feast."

"what was food that bad in Africa"

"No, thankfully not that bad. But it's definitely not winning any culinary awards."

Regina raised an eyebrow, a playful glint in her eye. "I'll take your word for it. So, how did you end up here from Africa anyway?"

I shrugged, "My parents got a job offer here, so we packed up and moved. It's been... an adjustment, to say the least."

Regina nodded in understanding. "Yeah, moving sucks. But hey, at least you're not stuck eating bugs or something."

"Africa was actually pretty incredible, I whip out my phone showing her all kinds of pictures with me and the animals...

"and here is Cady and me with an elephant." Regina seemed too huff at the name. but I decided not too read into it too much

"Wow, these are amazing," she remarked, genuine awe in her voice. "I can't believe you got to experience all of this."

I nodded, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. "Yeah, it was definitely an adventure.

Regina glanced up from the photos, meeting my gaze with a curious expression. "So, do you miss it? Africa, I mean."

I hesitated for a moment, contemplating her question. "In some ways, yes. But being here has its perks too. Like getting to meet interesting people," I added with a playful smile, nudging her lightly with my elbow.

before I could get a response from Regina the bell went off signalling the end of lunch. Regina quickly took my phone off me. "hey what" I question.

"Relax, I'm giving you my number. Message me later nerd" Regina saunters off

I watched her go, feeling a mix of confusion and excitement. It was unexpected, but I couldn't deny that a part of me was thrilled by the gesture.

I checked my contacts, I couldn't help but smile at what Regina had saved her name as: "Blondie 💖."

"so where were you" Janice asked as I sat next to her in the class, quick think of something. Bathroom troubles...

Janice raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying my excuse. "Bathroom trouble, huh? You look like you've been up to something more exciting than that." She smirked, nudging me playfully.

I chuckled nervously, trying to maintain my composure. "Yeah, well, you know how it is. Sometimes you just need a moment to yourself."

"I hope your not applying it in the way I think you are" Janice pulls a face of disgust. but quickly changes topic.

"oo something super exciting, you have an exclusive invite too my art show this Saturday, well technically, its free and anyone can go, your sister said she had a thing with your mom that weekend so I-"  Janice, JANICE. she stops talking. "I can go" I smile at her.

Janice's eyes widened in surprise, clearly not expecting my enthusiastic response. "Really? That's awesome! I'm so glad you can make it!"

"Yeah, wouldn't miss it for anything," I replied, feeling genuinely excited about the prospect of attending Janice's art show.

She grinned, her excitement contagious. "Great! It's going to be a blast. Can't wait to show you all my new pieces."

"Yeah, wouldn't miss it for anything," I replied, feeling genuinely excited about the prospect of attending Janice's art show. "Oh, can I invite someone?" I questioned.

"Sure, the more the merrier. What is it, a new girl of yours? It better not be Olivia," she scowled at me.

I chuckled, shaking my head. "No, definitely not Olivia. You'll just have to wait and see who it is."
