3 months later...I walked into my office checking the chart of one of my patients, I was about to discharge her and I couldn't have been happier.
Whenever a person left my office cured, I felt more fulfilled professionally speaking. I closed the folder and headed for my office, called the patient in and we had a quiet consultation, I could see in her gestures and speech the security she had finally found within herself.
I only had her as a patient that day, so I organized everything to leave and was about to close the office when I saw Jisoo standing in the doorway.
- Can I come in? - I nodded my agreement and walked back into the office.
She followed me into my office and closing the door behind her, sat down facing me, still silent.
- What's up? - I started the conversation.
- Are you mad at me?
- You should be, I violated my medical ethics and broke your trust.
- Yes, you're right.
- You did the right thing by taking me off the case, I was more involved than I should have been.
- No, I'd be very unfair if I didn't admit that you helped with a lot of things, she's still alive because of you, you saved her from an attempt, but you know you crossed the line a bit.
- I know, I'm sorry I didn't come to you because I needed some time to get my head together.
- That doesn't diminish you as a psychologist, you know, you tried to do what you thought was right.
- Yes, you're right, but don't worry, we can go back to the way things were... I miss you.
- I miss you too. - I stood up and Jisoo did the same, and we hugged right away.
- I don't have any more patients right now.
- Sure, let's go.
Jisoo drove us to a bar nearby, we ordered a drink and sat down at one of the tables.
- Do you want to know about her case? - I took a few sips from the glass, staring at Jisoo.
- I want to know?
- I think so.
- Then go ahead.
- Well, she's out of hospital. - I smiled with relief. - She's improved a lot, she's talking to her family again and she's still taking her medication at home.
- Has she been seeing a psychologist?
- Unfortunately not. - Jisoo said, downing the rest of the drink in his glass. - She's been refusing ever since I took you off the case.
