I pushed the medical file back to Jisoo and she looked at me over her eyes, returning it to my hands.
- How many times do I have to explain? My schedule is full, Jisoo, it's impossible, I told you. - I huffed angrily, already impatient with all this insistence.
Jisoo ignored me, taking the form in her hands and opening the first page, it didn't take her long to start reading the lines.
- Seventh suicide attempt, case refused by the eighth specialist in the field.
- Eighth? - I repeated in amazement, watching Jisoo give a victorious little smile - she knew how much I loved a lost case.
- Oitava, see for yourself. - Jisoo showed me the papers again, but instead of turning away, I took them in hand and read the first page of the medical file.
Roseanne Park, 23 years old, bipolar and borderline personality disorder with comorbid depression, several hospitalizations in the same year, specialist psychologists in the field did not continue the treatment because it was difficult to get the young woman to open up.
- Wow. - I said, closing the small pile of leaves at once. - It's all right. - I said, surrendering. - I'll give it a try.
- I knew it. - my best friend smiled victoriously, sometimes I loved working with her, sometimes I hated it.
- Did you get the case?
- Of course, it's not possible that they've left this girl in so much pain, she's 23 years old and the doctors prefer to pass on the case so they don't have to study it further, they don't even seem to have taken the same oath as me.
Jisoo was one of the best pyschiatrists at the hospital where we worked and, like me, she didn't give up easily on anyone, even if she needed to study more or do more research, she didn't mind and we had that in common, two very successful careers.
Admittedly, one always helped the other in deep and difficult cases, and fortunately our success rate was higher than our defeat rate.
- I'm available next week, I can come and visit her.
- I'll try to get your permission. - Jisoo stood up, taking the file with him.
- Try? - I asked confused.
- You see, the case is complex, I need authorization for her to try another treatment, especially regarding the medication.
- You came all this way to leave me empty-handed, I hate you, you know that? - I said the last words shouting, but she had already left.
I went back to my records and finished a few, stopping only for a coffee. I didn't have any more patients that day, so I just organized my room so I could go home.
My cell phone rang and I smiled when I saw who it was. I answered it immediately, balancing my coat in one hand and my charts in the other.
- Hi my love, are you leaving work? - Lee said on the other end of the line, I heard the sound of cars and figured she was already on her way home.
- Hello, love, are you going to cook us dinner tonight? - I closed the room behind me and walked to the elevator.
- What you don't ask for when you're smiling, I'll do when I'm crying. - he said, making me laugh.
- Nothing like a woman who cooks for you.
- Well, save your hunger then, I'll wait for you.
- See you later.
- See you later. - My girlfriend hung up the phone.
I was smiling just hearing her voice on the other end, how could I be so in love with her, well the answer was her.
I took my car from the parking lot and left the clinic anxious to get home.
