Chapter 9

Adam

"You know I'm really happy for you. Farida is a great girl she is bright and loving I'm so happy you agreed." His uncle gushed in the phone.

"Mhmm" Adam just mumbled in response not hearing what his uncle was saying but rather reading into the paper he was holding in his hands.

His uncle had been going on and on about complementing Farida since they started the call.

He had stopped listening long ago.

"You know I believe she is the perfect match for you, she is good at every-"

"Uh uncle gotta go, Yusuf just came in." Adam cut him off before his uncle start yet again another rant about Farida.

"Oh okay then. Assalma w alaykum Adam. Take care." His uncle said his Salams just as Yusuf walked into his office.

"Walaykum assalam." Adam said and hung up the phone.

Adam let out a sigh of relief as Yusuf greeted him and Adam replied.

"What happened? Tough day? It has barely even started." Yusuf said as he sat down in his place.

"I know it's just... Walla brother I don't even know." Adam sighed and held his head.

"What is it before wedding nerves? Don't worry I had them too." Yusuf said with a chuckle. "By the way you still haven't told me how you ended up marrying Farida."

Adam looked up at him, "What is there to tell?"

"For example, how two people that didn't want to marry anyone ended up together and let's not forget those two hated each other as far as I know." Yusuf looked down at him with a secret smile plastered on his face.

"What, why are you giving me this creepy look?" Adam said as he saw how Yusuf was starting.

"You know they always said there is a thin line between love and hate, I never realized how true this line could be." Yusuf stretched his arms out and closed his eyes.

Looking as comfortable as ever.

"What is that suppose to mean?" Adam said confusingly to him.

"What I mean is," He opened one eye and looked at Adam form the corner of his eye "you like her."

Adam's eyes widened as Yusuf said that. But then he composed himself.

He most certainly did not like her.

"I really don't." He grimaced as he remembered her stubborn responses and how much of hot headed girl she was.

"Then why are you going to marry her in a few days?" Yusuf said as he sat up and gave his whole attention to Adam.

Adam thought over what he should tell Yusuf.

But then he decided to just tell Yusuf the truth.

"Well to be honest we just agreed after a long argument to just tolerate each other."

Half of the truth Anyway.

Yusuf narrowed his eyes at Adam when he said that.

"Look we just came to an agreement to marry each other and since my uncle and her parents were both pressuring us we decided to give it a try." Adam said shrugging off the skeptical look of Yusuf.

Yusuf just continued staring at him with narrowed eyes for a few minutes until he let out a sigh.

"Just be careful yeah? You said you can't love anyone because you're still in love with Lucy so try not to hurt her too much." Yusuf looked seriously at Adam.
