October 14th:
-Lisa's pov-
I woke up on Saturday to my phone buzzing with texts from Billie. Despite having "do not disturb" mode on, her messages always go through.
I took Shark for a walk in the nearby forest, which was part of our family's property.
Then, Shark and I went on a little boat ride across the pond. I managed to capture a majestic picture of him. When we returned, I grabbed a snack before grocery shopping with my granny. Our car rides were always fun; we would listen to Frank Sinatra exclusively.
She mentioned that three of her friends would be joining us for dinner that evening. I was excited as I still knew these women from when I was a child spending the whole summer at my grandmother's, so it was a little like a reunion.
The maid prepared the dinner while I made an apple strudel for dessert. I washed and straightened my hair, wore a cute dress, and eagerly awaited their arrival. Since they were quite posh, it was super important to always have good manners when they were around.
Finally, at around 7:30 p.m., we sat down for dinner. I was starving by then. We had fish prepared in a traditional Eastern European style and potato salad. After finishing my dessert, I felt my phone vibrate in the pocket of my cardigan. Glancing at it discreetly, I saw that it was another text from Billie.
I excused myself from the table to go reply, knowing it wasn't appropriate to use my phone while dining with the guests.
