The pirogue was hauled onto the ship, the captain, 1st mate, and siren inside. Once they were pulled onto the ship, Hongjoong ordered Yeosang and Jongho to move the siren to the infirmary. Mingi rushed to Yunho, pulling him out of the priogue and onto the ship, checking him to see if he was alright.
The occupied members of the crew had no time to react. They were immediately ordered around as soon as their captain got back. "So you wanted a fish?" Wooyoung said to their captain, looking concerned as he placed his hands on his hips. "It's not a fish you fool, he's a siren and he happens to be quite valuable. If you don't want to be thrown overboard i'd suggest you shut your slut mouth." Hongjoong said to Wooyoung with a grimace on his face. Wooyoung stepped forward defensively, clenching his fist. San grabbed Wooyoung's shoulder, shaking his head no, hoping he would stop with his idiocy. Hongjoong signaled to San to help Mingi carry Yunho to the infirmary, leaving him and Wooyoung alone together.
Hongjoong turned away from Wooyoung and walked down to the infirmary to see his successful catch and make sure his 1st mate was okay. Wooyoung was left to reminisce in his thoughts, looking over the side of the ship as he waited for San to return.
Hongjoong entered the infirmary to find his 1st mate grunting and aching as Jongho patched him up. The siren was chained to the wall by his arms to make sure he didn't do anything unreasonable. After checking and making sure everything was going smoothly, he went up deck and returned to his office.
A few hours later Yunho came into Hongjoong's office with Mingi following closely behind him with a worried face. "Yunho...you need to sit down and rest.." Mingi said, gently touching Yunho's arm. Yunho gently pushed him off and advanced towards the captain. "What do you plan on doing with the siren, sir?" Yunho said as he looked down at Hongjoong. "I was planning on going in for questioning" "I'll do it captain!" Yunho said quickly before Hongjoong could finish. The captain stood up quickly "No. You will rest. I will not be responsible for you being hurt more than you already are. I'll do it." He says, walking past Yunho and Mingi on his way to the infirmary.
Once Hongjoong arrived in the infirmary he spotted the siren squirming and struggling. "Still got some fight in you hm?" He said as he stepped closer, gripping onto the siren's face and examining him. The siren looked up at him, a hint of fear in his eyes as he tried to slow his breathing. Hongjoong smiled at him, this was all so entertaining to him. "What's your name, fishy?" the captain asked but the siren did not reply. He simply just looked away and avoided the question. Hongjoong gripped onto his face again "You'll answer me and you'll answer me now. You don't want to know what kind of things i'm capable of boy." He said harshly. "Fine damnit!" The siren replied. "It's Seonghwa. And if that's all you want of me i'd like to rest." He said, a bit of anger on his face. Hongjoong smiled "Feisty are we? But no. I still need you. So tell me. What's this?" He said, moving his hand from Seonghwa's face down to his necklace. It was exactly as the farmer described, maybe even better. The diamond was shinier than anything he'd ever seen. "It's....It controls the sea. And I'll have you know i'm the only one who can use it, so killing me is no use." Seonghwa said, turning his head away from the captain. Hongjoong's smile only grew wider "I like your temper, Hwa. Can i call you that? Hwa? It has such a lovely ring to it doesn't it?" Seonghwa stayed silent, glancing at him a few times before looking away again. Hongjoong's eyes trace the prince's body, realizing how thin he is. "Are you hungry?" He asked but the siren stayed quiet. "Do you want fish?" Hongjoong asked and the siren glanced over a him, his stomach growling silently. "I'll take that as a yes" He said, calling for Wooyoung and telling him to make the siren anything with fish in it.
About 15 minutes later, Wooyoung comes into the infirmary with a bowl of fish soup he made for the siren. Hongjoong took the bowl and picked up the spoon, collecting a spoonful of the liquid. He brought the spoon up to Seonghwa's lips but he still refused. "Come on, just trust me. You're too valuable to hurt." He said, pushing the spoon up to his lips again. Finally, Seonghwa opened his mouth and allowed Hongjoong to feed him.
While Hongjoong and Seonghwa were having their moment, Jongho and Yeosang were researching the siren's injuries. "Are you sure we should be doing this? Captain didn't directly order it.." Yeosang said, looking over worried at Jongho. "It'll be fine. Plus, i'm a doctor. I can't just leave an injured man undiagnosed." Jongho said, searching through the books. "There's something we have to do with that siren and i'm going to find it" He said, searching more frantically. Yeosang was coming over to him but accidentally bumped into one of the book cases and a book fell out. "Are you ok?" Jongho said, rushing over and examining his arm. "Yea i'm fine....Hey, what's this?" He said, picking up a book with a picture of a turquoise colored potion in it. "It says it heals." Yeosang said, a confused look on his face. "What are the ingredients?" Jongho asked and they started to make note of it. Jongho folded the paper and shoved it into his back pocket.
Eventually Hongjoong finished feeding him the soup and set the bowl down, wiping the excess liquid from Seonghwa's mouth. "You know, your lips are quite luscious for a boy." Hongjoong says and the siren rolls his eyes. "It's just natural for a male siren to look this way. It helps attract our prey better.." He replied. "I assume that's not hard for you" the captain says. "Excuse me?" "I said. I assume it's not hard for you. It's not hard for you to attract prey." The captain repeated. "oh no i don't...i don't uhm do any of that...most of my meals are just brought to me." This made sense in a way, considering he was the prince. Hongjoong had almost forgot that this helpless creature was royalty. "What do you like to do since you don't capture your own food?" Hongjoong asked. "I suppose just swim. There's nothing more i can do than that..." the siren replied. Hongjoong couldn't imagine how boring it must've been without the luxury of having things humans have. "I can teach you a few things if you'd like. You know, reading, writing, and other such things. You'll be staying with us after all so we'll have to find something for you to do" Hongjoong said, eyeing the boy in front of him again. "Uhm..i'd prefer you please not stare at me like i'm the last bit of food here.." The siren commented.
As their conversation continued, Jongho and Yeosang were busy at work. They were gathering the ingredients and setting them on the table, preparing to make the liquid. "Damnit, we're out of thyme." Yeosang said, pushing the crate back into place. "Uhm, just substitute it with rosemary. It shouldn't change the outcome." Jongho replied, beginning to mix the ingredients together.
Soon enough the liquid was done. "We'll just have to wait until captain leaves so we can take this in to him." Jongho said. "Do you think it's ok that it's more of an off blue and not the turquoise showed in the picture? Yeosang asked, looking at the concoction a little concerned. "Uhh..we can find out??" Jongho said, desperate for this liquid to work.
The captain finally left the infirmary once the sun set. After their captain had made it to his quarters, the two snuck into the infirmary where they found the siren peacefully asleep...or was he passed out? They didn't care either way. They creeped closer to the siren and got the liquid out, pouring it into the bowl which once held the fish soup. Yeosang gently shook the siren, waking him up with little struggle. "Here, drink this" Jongho said, pushing the bowl against his lips. They both watched silently as the siren drank all of the liquid within minutes. "Now you may sleep, we're sorry for disturbing you." Yeosang apologized politely before him and Jongho left silently and returned to their quarters.
The next morning Hongjoong came into the infirmary to find that his siren now had....legs?
