Seonghwa woke up the next day and woke up before Hong. Hwa was excited because in the next few days Joong's birthday would be coming up. He had no idea what to give him and thought about going to the stores and buying him something. Even if he did go and buy something, he didn't know what he'd want, every time they went to shops, Joong just wanted to spend all of his money on Hwa.
He thought he could ask the members what he might want but he'd do that later. He'd finally woken up before Joong and wanted to watch his handsome husband sleep. He watched Joong sleep for a while, getting to admire him for once. Without realizing, Hwa had snuggled up to Joong, leaving no room in between them.
He could feel the warmth coming from Joong, his face heating up in the process. He finally snapped out of his trance when Joong moved and woke up. He giggled and hugged onto Hwa tightly.

Hwa asked the others what Joong liked and all of their answers were things that he already had.
"What do you want for your birthday?" Hwa asked Joong, later that night. "I don't know. I just want to spend time with my family and crew." He paused for a second before speaking again. "Don't worry about getting me a gift, love. You're the only gift I could ever need." That one saying stuck in Hwa's mind like glue. He definitely wouldn't forget it.
The day before Joong's birthday, Mama Kim was still babying Hwa and would get into Hong if he didn't do something right for Hwa. Hwa laughed the whole time, feeling a bit bad for Joong. "I'm just caring for my son like a mother should." Mama Kim said, crossing her arms. "I'm your son, what do you mean!" Hong replied, putting his hands on his head.
Hwa still felt like he needed to give Honf something. He went to their stolen goods to see if he could maybe make something for him. While he was down there, he found a book he hadn't read yet. Hwa was getting stressed because he couldn't find anything. He thought that maybe if he sat somewhere quiet and read for a bit, it would calm him down or jog an idea for something he could make or buy. Little did Hwa know, the book he picked up wasn't the type you'd look in for innocent gift giving. Hwa had always been a speed reader so he got through a couple chapters pretty fast. A majority of the chapters were nothing but smut...but it did give him an idea.
Joong loves to have alone time with him. What if he gives him that but with a little spice. Hwa wasn't innocent anymore. He saw how Joong reacted when he took control for a bit and think that Joong might have some sort of kink for that. It wouldn't hurt to try what he had in mind...but he couldn't just surprise him with it. It has to lag on through the entire day, making him wonder. That was Hwa's plan.
The day of Joong's birthday, Hwa, Mama Kim, and Woo were making Joong's cake at the Kim family's house. It was a chocolate cake, one of Joong's favorite flavors. Mama Kim adored Hwa, and Wooyoung could tell. Hong came over to take Hwa out.
As they were walking, Hwa thought to himself that now was the time to start his plan. From here on out, Hwa would act dominant in a way. After a while of them being alone, Hong could tell something was different about Hwa. The way he was acting was nothing like his normal self...but damn...it was attractive to him.

They were now back on the ship. Hong didn't really want to go out for his birthday this time, so only the crew and his family were there. They played games, ate food, and just celebrated him.
At one point, Joong couldn't find Hwa. It was near the end of the party. He thought that maybe he got a little too drunk and went to bed early. He went into their room...only to find Hwa on the bed.
