Hongjoong wanted to take Hwa out for a nice walk around Pohang, so that morning, when he woke up first, he got dressed before gently waking Hwa. "Wake up, love. I want to take you around the city today." Hwa groaned and gently rubbed his eyes, making Hong giggle. "C'mon and get up, dear. I'll wait for you outside." Hongjoong said softly before kissing Hwa's forehead.
Later on, they walked around Pohang, and failed to realize that they'd walked all the way to down town Pohang. This area of Pohang wasn't as lively as the rest. On their walk, they saw a rundown orphanage. From the looks of it, it seemed to still be running, despite its condition. Hwa didn't like the sight of it, something about it wasn't sitting right with him.
Hongjoong noticed Hwa's discomfort and gently rubbed his arm, deciding that making small talk would probably be the best option of getting Hwa's mind off of it. He led Hwa a different direction, trying to get the orphanage out of sight. It was haunting in a way. It had the feeling of despair attached to it, like something horrible had happened there.
After a bit more walking and talking, they came up to a forested area. As they were about to turn and head back to the ship, Seonghwa heard a cry from the forest. "Did you hear that too?" He asked, looking at Hongjoong. "What?" "It sounded like it was calling out. Like a kid. I can't really make out what they're saying though." He said, looking back at the entrance of the woods. "Are you sure? It could be a trap Hwa." Hong said with a sigh. "But what if it's a kid. What if it's hurt?" Hwa said with a worried expression. Hongjoong sighed and grabbed Hwa's hand, leading him into the forest.
They walked in the forest for a bit, getting closer and closer to the cries. The closer they got, the clearer the voice got. It was a little boy calling for his dad. Hwa pushed back some bushes, revealing a child to the two of them. He was very young...and alone, hurt, and crying for his father.
Hwa approached the child, trying to calm him down. He turned to face Hwa and Hongjoong, tears running down his face. He was breathing heavily, hurt, and scared. There was one thing about the kid that stuck out. He had some siren features like Hwa, pointed teeth, siren ears, scales, and his nails were slightly pointed...but no webbed fingers. "What's your name? We're here to help, okay?" Hwa said softly. The boy looked up at him and it took him a second to reply. "I uhm....dont..know it.." Hongjoong was looking around and scanning the area, making sure there was no danger. Hwa gently held out his hand. "Everything is going to be okay. Do you trust us?" The boy hesitated but took Hwa's hand anyways. "Is it okay for me to pick you up?" Hwa said, leaning down to ask him. He nodded and Hwa picked him up, letting him hug his neck.
"Do you remember anything about your dad? What he looks like? A name maybe?" The boy just stayed quiet, like he didn't want to talk about it. Hwa sighed and looked over at Hongjoong before talking to the boy again. "Are you hungry?"  He lifted up his head and quickly nodded. "I think there was a bakery that we saw on the way here." Hongjoong said, gently leading Hwa in front of him.
They decided to take him to the bakery. Hongjoong held the door open while Hwa walked in with the boy who was still in his arms. When they got in, there was an old lady at the counter. "Welcome." She said, waving gently before she noticed the boy in Hwa's arms and immediately recognized him. Hwa put him down and he went over to her. "Are you his grandmother?" Hwa asked. "Oh no, I'm not related to him at all. Him and his father were just frequent customers." "Do you know where his dad is?" Hongjoong asked. "No. I haven't seen him for a while. The little one just kept coming without him. I stopped seeing him for a few days and I got a little worried." She said, gently rubbing his head. "Do you know his name?" Hwa asks. "Ah, I don't really recall his name. It's a very vivid memory of mine. Does he not remember?" "No..." Hongjoong mumbled. "It starts with an A, that's all I know." Hongjoong huffed and looked away. He was angry. All of this seemed like his father had abandoned him. Hwa looked over and saw that Hong had a bit of an attitude so he took his hand and led him outside. "Are you okay?" He asked softly. "Yea...just a little pissed at this kids jerk dad." "Listen uhm...I think this is a perfect opportunity for us." Hongjoong raised his eyebrows. "What do you mean?" "What if we adopt him?" Hongjoong hesitated. "I'm not sure if he'll be safe." "I'm not putting him in that damn orphanage we saw. He's like me. He'll get judged and mistreated for his siren features no matter where he goes. If no one has tried to help him before, then they sure as hell won't now." Hwa paused. "This is our chance to give him a good, loving home." "Let's just see if the lady can keep him first."
They went inside and Hongjoong decided to ask the questions this time. "Why haven't you adopted him?" He asked her. "I'm just not in the right financial state to take care of him...and I'm sure I don't have much longer. He doesn't deserve to lose anymore than he already has." Hong sighed and looked at Hwa before looking back at her. "You don't have to worry about him anymore. We'll take care of him."
Hwa smiled at Hongjoong before crouching and gently opening his arms to the boy, calling him over. He came over and stood in front of Hwa. "How would you like it if we were your parents, hm?" He said softly. The boy looked a little confused. "Parents?" "Like your new mom and dad." Hongjoong said. The boy looked over at Hongjoong before looking back at Hwa and nodding. Seonghwa smiled and picked him up, walking over to the counter. "We'll buy something. Just whatever his favorite is." The lady nodded and packed some bread and a cookie for him before coming back and taking the money from Hwa.
After, Hongjoong and Seonghwa left the bakery, the kid in Hwa's arms. He was eating some of the bread that the lady made. As they were walking they were trying to come up with a name. "I think we should keep his name starting with an A." Hwa said, Hongjoong nodded in ageement. All Hwa could think about was Anthony. The thought of him made Hwa a bit sad. Hong rubbed Hwa's back as they walked, sensing the sadness in his expression. They went back and forth for a bit, suggesting names until Hwa came up with a name. "What about Anh?" He said. "Hwa." "What, it's cute." Hwa said with a little giggle. Hong laughed. "No, not Hwa. Anh-Hwa." Hwa laughed. "You're so obsessed with me that you wanna name our kid after me." Joong giggled. "It means Calm Flower." Hwa happily nodded. "I like it. But his nickname will be Anh." "Of course, Love."
They paused for a second before realization hit Hwa. "Wait so when you call me Hwa you're calling me flower?" Hong chuckled a bit. "You just now realized that." Hwa started to blush, looking away as he held Anh close.
When they got back to the ship, it was getting late and the sun was starting to set. As they walked onto the deck, the others started to greet them and tell them they were starting to get worried until they noticed Anh in Hwa's arms. Their questions started coming in immediately. Hongjoong told them everything.
Wooyoung looked like he was about to explode from cuteness overload. "So we're uncles now?" He asked excitedly. "Sure, if that's what you want to be called." Hongjoong replied. Anh was hurt, hungry, and tired, so Jongho took him to the infirmary while Hwa and Hongjoong made dinner. Jongho got Anh all patched up and then thay all ate. Anh fell asleep in Hwa's arms and Hongjoong was still trying to figure out where Anh was going to sleep. "He can sleep with us for now." Hwa suggested. "He's about 2. What if he gets scared or something happens?" "You're right." Hongjoong said. "But when he's older we'll clean out one of the storage rooms. They're decent in size. Good enough for a bedroom." Hong finished.
Hwa tucked Anh into bed. He was sound asleep. Safe and warm. "He's not from your kingdom, is he? His colors don't match yours." Hongjoong whispered to Hwa. "No. He's not. He has more of a teal and yellow color to his scales. From the looks of it, he's from the Enaizothage Kingdom." Hwa replied. "The what?" Hong asked. "It's in the Indian Ocean." Hwa explained. "He does look more Indian." Hongjoong said. "That's because siren race depends on what ocean they're in. If I were in the other half of the Pacific, I'd look American." Hwa explained. Hongjoong nodded and climbed into bed gently, trying not to wake Anh. Once they were both in bed, they cuddled Anh gently and fell asleep.
