Hongjoong was sitting up in bed, reading the book Hwa had been reading, "20 Shades of Red". Hongjoong looked over, seeing Hwa squirming a bit and whining. He reached over and shook Hwa awake, noticing the tears on his cheeks. Hongjoong grabs Seonghwa and starts holding him, rocking him and petting his head. "Shh, it's ok babe.." He said, kissing the top of his head softly.
Seonghwa woke up and hugged Hongjoong, burying his head in Joong's shoulder. "Are you ok? What happened??" "Nightmare..." Hongjoong hugged Hwa a little tighter and rubbed his back. "Hey, it's ok...i've got you. They're gone now, you'll be ok"
After Hwa had calmed down, he looked up and noticed the book sitting on the bed "Were you seriously reading it" Hwa said with a little chuckle. "Uhm- Yea- I wanted to take a look at what was in it..I saved your place though" Hongjoong said, handing the book back to Seonghwa.
Hongjoong woke up with Seonghwa cuddled up beside him. He managed to slip out and get on deck, spotting Yunho and walking over to him. "Hey, listen. I need you to stay on the ship until I get back. I shouldn't be gone long." Yunho nodded at him and went back to cleaning the ship as he was previously doing.
Hongjoong went through the city as he did before losing Hwa. "Let's see.." He said, looking for the perfect flowers for Hwa. He found a bouquet of cosmos and picked them up, buying them before heading to the bakery as he previously did. He went into the bakery, buying Seonghwa breakfast. As he was coming back to the ship he noticed a jewelry store. 'Should I...?" He thought to himself, stopping in front of the store. "Fuck it, I can't risk losing him." He said, walking in. "Uhm hi, do you have anything with pearls in it?"
When Hong returned to the ship, he quietly came into their room, finding Seonghwa awake and reading the book while sitting in bed. "Hello, my prince" He says, coming over to Hwa and sitting beside him, giving him the food and flowers on a platter. "Breakfast in bed for my beloved siren." Hwa smiled and ate happily.
Hwa had eaten about half of his food before Hongjoong spoke. "So...When you didn't have the necklace on...how'd you feel..? I'm just a little curious.." Hongjoong asked, fixing Hwa's hair. "For the first second, I had a mild headache that just kept getting worse...I noticed that my strength was leaving me too. I couldn't even swim up to the surface after that...I couldn't feel anything my whole body went numb. I couldn't move. My hearing went away and so did my vision. It all came back slowly when the necklace was on, but I don't really know why that happened" Hongjoong looked away "Uhm...about that...I didn't tell you but...the reason all that happened was because you can't live without the necklace...your health just deteriorates until you eventually die...i'm just happy I got it to you in time" "Wait so I could've..." The room went silent for a second. "Just uhm...eat your food. I'll take you on a walk after" Hongjoong says, getting up and heading out onto the deck.
After Hwa got done eating, he came out on deck with a cosmo in his hair. "You look stunning as always, my prince" Hongjoong says, taking his hand. They went and walked through the streets, seeing some kids playing outside of an orphanage. Seonghwa looked over at Hongjoong. "Look how cute" He said with a his lip poked out. "Guys look, a mermaid!" One of the kids says, rushing over to Hwa, the rest following him. "Actually he's" Hong started to say but Hwa elbowed him. "That's right, a mermaid" Hwa says, crouching down and letting the kids look at his siren features. After they'd left from the kids looking at Hwa in awe, Hongjoong looked at Hwa a little confused. "Why'd you tell them you were a mermaid?" "Kids always heard how scary and evil sirens are. I don't wanna be seen as that by them. Just let them have their little fantasies, Hong" Hwa says as they keep walking. They stayed around the town square until the sun started to set. "How about we go take a little walk on the beach. How's that sound?" Hwa smiled gently at Hong. "Sounds lovely" He says, taking Joong's hand.
They walked along the beach for a while, looking out at the water. Eventually they came up on a pile of clothes. It was the clothes that Hong had bought for Seonghwa. "So that's where those damn clothes went...those fuckers threw them overboard.." Hwa laughed a little. "Well, I suppose they smell like salt or fish by now." "I'll get San or Woo to come pick them up later...but..in the meantime.." Hongjoong said, getting on one knee in front of Hwa. "Hwa...these past few weeks with you have been the best weeks of my life...and man..I know this might feel rushed...but you're the first person i've ever actually loved...And I want to spend the rest of my life with you...so" He says, pulling the case out of his pocket and opening it, revealing the bracelet. "Park Seonghwa, will you marry me?" Hwa stood there, shocked and covering his mouth as tears formed in his eyes. It took him a second but he eventually started to nod. Hongjoong got up and kissed him, hugging him and putting the bracelet on him afterwards. "I wanted to get you a ring but...You know, the webbed fingers" He said with a little laugh as he wiped Hwa's tears.
After an exchange of words, they walked a little further down the beach to a small dock, sitting on the end of it. "Hey maybe you can invite some of your siren buddies to our wedding" "oh uhm...I don't have any of those.." "What..that sounds horrible..so do you not have anyone?" "Not really no...what about you? Are you going to invite your family or any old friends?" Hwa said, resting his hand on top of Joong's "Oh no, I don't speak to them anymore.." "Why not?"
