~ Chapter Twenty ~
I had not seen Alex in three long years, and the weight of our past still lingered heavily in my heart. My life had moved forward, and I was now deeply committed to Shane, a kind and loving man who had been by my side through thick and thin.
As I walked into the quiet café where I and Alex had spent countless hours lost in conversation, the memories came rushing back. I ordered a hot latte and looked around to see where I can sit down. I spotted Alex sitting at a corner table, his warm smile lighting up the room. We exchanged a lingering glance before I approached him.
"Alex," I said softly, taking a seat across from him. "It's been a while."
