"You look beautiful ammu", Mishi said as she pecked her forehead. Ammu stood infront the mirror, admiring herself with a smile on her face, feeling confident and cherished.
"I'm feeling nervous", ammu said as she hugged her aunt tightly. Her heart raced with excitement and anxiety for what was to come.
"Have you seen him?", ammu asked her aunt, adjusting her dupatta on her head.
"No, soon-to-be hubby hasn't arrived yet", her aunt said winking at her.
She is feeling a mixed of emotions-- nervous, scared and excited. But mostly, she is scared. Scared that he might turn out to be like her father who left her mother, despite claiming to love her. She fears a similar fate.
She is shedding tears internally at her sudden change in fate. Just last night, she was reveling in cake and celebrating a friend's birthday. Now, she is on the cusp of becoming someone's fiancee, realizing how quickly life's moments can shift.
Aunt and niece where interrupted by a knock at the door. They looked to see Asiya ammu's mother entering the room with a smile.
She walks towards her daughter, pleased to see her smiling at her. "You look beautiful, meri jaan", she says, kissing her forehead affectionately.
"Thank you", Minha said hugging her mother.
"They are here", her mother said while gently caressing her cheek. Her heart raced, and she felt incredibly nervous.
"I'll go greet them and bring my ammu downstairs in 10 minutes", her mother stated, glancing at her sister for confirmation.
"You go and greet them, I'll head downstairs in 10 minutes with her", she said giving her sister a reassuring smile.
"Ammu, please give me a nice hairstyle", Mishi requested as she sat down in the chair in front of her.
She styled her hair in a boho braid, creating an elegant look with volume and leaving half of it down.
"I did a simple boho braid", she said casually to her aunt, proudly, showing off her handi work. "Do you like it?".
"Yeah, the hairstyle looks great with the outfit", she exclaimed as she ran her fingers through her hair. Standing up from the chair, she struck a few poses while admiring herself in the mirror.
They hear footsteps outside the door and were surprised to see aiman barge in the room and stood there watching them.
"Assalamualaikum, aunty bula rahi hai", Aiman said as she entered the room.
"Let's go ammu", her aunt said as she took her hand, and the three of them headed downstairs together.
Exiting the house, they made their way towards the garden area and were pleased to see it adorned with beautiful roses.
The garden's red roses create a romantic and perfectsetting for an unforgettable engagement celebration.
The three of them approach the stage, noticing a group of men deep in conversation, their backs turned. They wait patiently.
"Bhai aap ko paseena Kyu aa rha h?", they hear a man in black kurta ask to someone who is infront of him, they didn't get the perfect view of the man, whom he has asked.
"Haider, apna muh band kar", they hear the response.
"Ahmm, Mishi clears her throat to get their attention.
Then they notice five men looking in their direction, each offering an awkward smile as they turn their heads.
Sorry, they said moving away to allow the girls to take the centre stage with bride.
Mishi helped sit on the bride's chair and carefully adjusted her dupatta on head.
"Thank you, Mishi", ammu said with a warm smile on her face.
Her aunt left her on the stage, with her friend.
"Aap ki engagement ho rhi h kya inse", a man in green kurta asked Aiman pointing his finger at Minha.
"What? No", she said as she gaze at ammu.
"Then get up, bhai is going to sit there", Ibrahim stood their watching her getting up from the chair with a embarassing smile on her face.
Aiman stood up glaring at Ibrahim, who just shrugged his shoulders and rolled his eyes.
Minha's heart races as she hears that, feeling nervous as the man instructs her friend to get up and make room for him.
She couldn't believe that she still hadn't seen her fiance. It's bewildering to think she was committing to a man she didn't even know.
She desires a loyal fiance, not someone like the disloyal Shabbir Ali her grandma chose for her. Loyalty is what she values most in a partner.
