Shabbir Ali Khan

I took slow, measured steps towards them, my gaze locked on her frightened eyes. The world around me began to blur and fade away, each detail becoming less significant as I became utterly captivated by her innocent caramel brown eyes.

"What's your name?", I inquired positing myself directly in front of her.

She barely reached my chest in height, and the contrast between us caused a soft chuckle to escape my lips.

"Leave her alone, Shabbir", Ahmad growled tightening his grip around her waist and nearly pulling her onto his lap as though she were a prized possession he was unwilling to share.

"Shut up. If you dare to utter a single word right now, I'll slit your throat", I warned menacingly as I casually reached for the knife resting in fruit bowl on the nearby table.

In an unexpected turn of events, the innocent beauty wriggled free from Ahmad's grasp and bolted out of the room without a moments hesitation. A laugh bubbled up from deep within me as she scurried outside like a tiny mouse fleeing from an impending predator that sought to consume her.

However, let it be clear: I'm not just any predator; I'm the villain in this tale--the devil intertwined with her story and life.

"She is such a cutie", I mumbled, settling into a more comfortable position on the bed beside him.

"You better watch your mouth; I'll cut your tongue out if you ever speak of her like that again", Ahmad seethed his voice laced with fury as he forcefully pushed me off the bed.

He was quick to free himself from the IV drips attached to him, stepping off with palpable anger. In the next moment, he threw a punch that connected sharply with my jaw.

"You think you're some kind of Casanova, don't you? You believe you can have any one woman at your beck and call, treating them like mere toys for your amusement! Women aren't objects for you to play with and toss aside when you've had enough!" His voice rose in intensity as he angrily shoved me to the floor.

He then positioned himself on my stomach and began delivering powerful blows without offering me any chance to shield my face from his relentless assault.

"I will fucking kill you if you dare to look at her like that again. I swear on my dead mother!" His threats were chilling as he yanked me up by my hair and delivered a brutal headbutt straight into my face.

Pain radiated through me as blood spilled from my nose due to the impact.

It hurt like hell.

Desperate to free myself from his grasp, I tried to push him away, but it only elicited another sharp slap across my face that left me reeling.

"Do you even know why I stayed with you, even though I knew how much a characterless bastard and a psychopath you are?", he demanded grabbing me by my collar and forcing me to look him in the eye, his fist meeting my jaw with a sickening thud.

"Why?", I spat out blood, defiance flashing in my eyes.

"Because I believed you could change. I thought you would mend your ways", he replied, his voice dripping with disappointment and hurt.

"But no, you had the audacity to look at her. You dared to call her 'cutie'", he hissed through gritted teeth, anger simmering beneath the surface.

"I will kill you today", he shouted, brandishing a knife and pressing it agaisnt my throat, his eyes filled with rage.

But his threat didn't faze me. I simply smiled back at him as the sharp blade lightly pierced my skin, the tension between us palpable. The air crackled with anger and betrayal, the silence broken only by the sound of our heavy breathing.

"You want to kill me, Ahmad?", I questioned, my voice trembling as our eyes met.

Despite my outward show of fear, deep down I knew he couldn't harm me. Tears welled up in his eyes, a sign of his internal struggle.

After all, we are more than just friends - we are like brothers. He couldn't possibly kill me, no matter what. The thought of him doing so is simply unfathomable.

I trust him with my life, and I know he would never betray that trust.

"I don't want to, Shabbir", he said his voice filled with hurt and pain. "You are my best friend. You're my brother, but...but you didn't leave me any other choice", he added as he fell on top of me, hugging me tightly.

His body shook with sobs, and his tears soaked my shirt as kept mumbling "sorry" over and over again. I couldn't understand why he was apologising repeatedly.

The situation was terrifying and emotional, leaving me feeling overwhelmed and confused.

I gently pushed him away, wincing as I wiped the blood from my throbbing nose. The pain was unbearable.

"I'm sorry, Shabbir", he apologised, his voice filled with agony.

The word made me feel cringe, leaving me even more confused than before.

"I'm sorry for being a shitty friend, I didn't have a choice", he whimpered As he wiped his nose, the blood covering his hands a stark reminder of the violence that had just occurred.

He had punched me, headbutted me, and yet here he was, crying. It was confusing - I should be the one crying, with my throbbing nose and aching jaw.

"Why do you keep apologising, it's frustrating", I said annoyance clear in my voice.

The situation was a mess, emotions running high, and the apologies seemed to only add to the chaos.

I raised my head and look at him keenly, trying to understand the meaning behind his words. Iam puzzled by his statement that he didn't have a choice. It makes me wonder what circumstances led him to believe that he had no other option.

My curiosity peaks as I ask him directly, "What do you mean by you didn't have any other choice?" Iam eager to hear his explanation and gain a deeper insight into his perspective.

He arrived before you and her, asserting a threat towards Mehru. As he spoke, I raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Who?", I inquired.

"Mir---as he was saying a voice cut through him

"Hello, bastard", a voice said causing me to turn and see Shahmeer Mirza's brother at the door. Their imposing presence made me glance over at Ahmad.

Oh... my best friend fucked me up.
