This is a short chapter and definitely not my best but I wanted to get one out as soon as I could. I hope you're enjoying the story so far!
It's been a few days since they saved Glenn and Maggie from the Governor and things at the prison have been running surprisingly smoothly. Everyone has been helping out with looking after the newborn, whom Carl named Judith and with the help of Ana's magic, they didn't need to go out as much to find things to survive on.
A few members of the pack were outside, either watching the two children play or planting some vegetables and although it wasn't necessary, it had more to do with keeping busy than anything else. Amy, who had taken the role of babysitter, was Currently rocking Judith back and forth in hopes of calming the screaming baby whilst Beth made her bottle.
"Here you go, little trouble maker" Beth cooed as she approached with the bottle in hand. When given to Judith, the prison grew quiet which made a few members of the pack who remained inside, sigh in relief.
Suddenly, they hear screaming coming from an adjacent wing, and Glenn and Dale rush off to investigate whilst Carol goes to inform the others outside. Ana is the first to appear, followed by the Dixon brothers, Shane and Rick, who look in the direction of the screaming with wide frantic eyes.
"Glenn and Dale went-" Before Beth could finish, Ana let out a small growl and rushed out of the wing in hopes of finding her two pack mates. She knew the others would follow but her mind was focused purely on Dale, who was an older gentleman and didn't have much training when killing walkers, and Glenn who had only recently been able to get out of bed after receiving a horrible beating from the governor's men. Ana had provided him with potions but after the first round, Glenn decided to heal naturally as he couldn't stand the taste.
Ana ran through multiple corridors before coming across Glenn and Dale helping two unknown people fight walkers, a third on the floor with a clear bite wound on her neck.
"Glenn! Dale! Get them into Cellblock C" Ana demanded loudly, gaining the attention of the three newcomers whose eyes widened at the glowing emeralds staring back at them.
"Yes, Alpha" Dale responded and began pulling the uninjured woman away from the swarm of walkers. The woman began pulling the large man with her, who continued to fight in hopes of saving the injured woman on the ground.
"Not her. I'm sorry but she's already bitten" The man looked conflicted, his eyes shifting to Rick and the woman before choking back from the sobs that desperately wanted to release. He nodded his head and followed the other frantic woman away from the walkers, then disappeared out of sight.
"I've got this" Ana commented briefly before taking a deep breath and pushing her palms outwards, where fire suddenly began to pour from them and one by one, the walkers in the corridors turned to ash.
"How the fuck did they get in?" Shane blurted out, his eyes filled with suspicion and worry. Ana knew he was going to get himself worked up, it's what both her brothers often did whenever something happened that wasn't part of their plan. With a sigh, she approached Shane and wrapped her arms around him, her head laid against his chest.
"Calm down, big brother" She whispered loud enough for him to hear. His body slowly relaxed and his arms wrapped around her in a fierce embrace, her eyebrows furrowing in concern as she felt him shake slightly.
"Remember, no one can enter the prison if they have bad intentions. They just seem like people who are desperate to survive this godforsaken world. Don't judge them - well... not until I've read their minds at least" Shane chuckled and nodded, taking a slow and calming deep breath before placing a kiss on her forehead as a way to express his appreciation.
They make their way to cell block C where Glenn and Dale are trying their hardest to reassure the newcomers that they're safe. The moment they entered, the man and woman jumped from their seat and eyed the group nervously.
"Hello, my name is Anastasia but you can call me Ana. These are my brothers, Rick and Shane - my boyfriend Daryl and my best friend, Merle. -" Ana looked over at Glenn and Dale with a small frown. "I'm not sure if they introduced themselves yet but-"
"They did-" said the woman abruptly before clearing her throat. "I'm sorry. Uh... Glenn and Dale did introduce themselves. I'm Sasha and this is my brother, Tyreese"
Ana found the woman to be quite amusing, she could see that Sasha was a feisty and cautious person but also was willing to seek help if need be. It was understandable that a lot of people would be hesitant to trust others, especially large groups like her pack but as Ana observed the new arrivals, she could tell that Tyreese was the more open one of the pair.
"Well... welcome-" The pack laughed at her awkward greeting, earning a playful glare from the witch. "There are something that needs to be discussed... I'm not sure how to explain it"
"Auntie Ana is a witch and can turn into a huge wolf and firebird! She made fireworks come out of her hands" Ana stared wide-eyed at Sofia, who wore the biggest smile she had ever seen.
"That's one way to say it" Daryl mumbled, loud enough for those in the room to hear which earned him laughs of agreement.
"Your eyes glowed" Tyreese commented in a matter-of-fact tone, gaining their attention. Ana nodded and shuffled nervously as she knew Tyreese and Sasha were two of Merlin how many whom she had been waiting for.
Daryl felt his mate's nerves and slowly approached from behind, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her into his chest. A subtle smile formed on his face as he felt her body relax against him, a soft sigh leaving her lips as she did so.
"You... you are a witch?" Sasha questioned slowly, an unsure look on her face which was quite understandable in Ana's opinion. However, the woman's apprehension seemed to somewhat offend the pack as they seemed to glare at her in unison.
With a sigh, Ana said "Yes, I'm an immortal witch who's also besties with dead himself and yes, I can turn into a wolf and a Phoenix" The two siblings stared silently, their eyes wide before Sasha rolled back and collapsed to the ground.
"Well... that went well"
It took Sasha just under half an hour to regain consciousness and found herself in a conformable bed with a lukewarm compress on her forehead. With a groan, she turned her head and sighed in relief at the sight of her brother, who was talking quietly with the ginger-haired woman. She briefly wondered how she ended up where she was until the memories of being saved by a small group from the walkers and a little girl talking about witches and something to do with turning into a wolf and a firebird.
"Sash? You alright?" Tyreese looked down at his sister with a concerned frown, sighing in relief as she nodded in response.
"What happened?" Her voice was croaky from dehydration but before she could ask for some water, a glass of cold orange juice appeared on the side table, making the two new arrivals stare wide-eyed. "What the fuck"
"You fainted and I'm assuming you remember that I'm a witch, no?" Ana commented with a playful smile, earning a small one from Sasha and a chuckle from Tyreese. "Drink up and then you can come down for some food"
The siblings watched Ana walk out of the room, doubts swirling in their minds about being with such a large group of people. It made them nervous but so far, the ones they met seemed nice but, looks can be deceiving and didn't want to put their guard down in case.
Tyreese handed his younger sister the glass of orange juice, surprised at how cold it was because since the apocalypse began it was rather hard to find fresh cold drinks. Sasha took a sip of the beverage, sighing in satisfaction before gulping the rest down.
"Are you ready?" Tyreese asked nervously, glancing between the cell door and Sasha.
"Let's go"
