After the traumatic situation at the barn, Maggie grew worried when her younger sister, Beth, collapsed due to shock. The worst thing that could happen in that situation was that Hershel was nowhere to be seen but after a little investigating, they figured out that to deal with the grief and realisation of what is really happening in the world, the older man needed a drink, a strong one at that.

"We'll find him" Glenn reassured the frantic woman, who hadn't stopped pacing up and down the porch since they found the hidden flask in one of his cabinets.

"Please bring him home" She cried, throwing her arms around him. He was frozen for a moment before wrapping his arms around her, rubbing her back in comfort. Ana smirked at the interaction and wiggled her eyebrows, making the flustered man glare playfully in her direction.

After Glenn and Rick drove away from the farm, Ana went upstairs with Maggie to see her younger sister, Beth, who was curled up in a fetal position, her face completely blank of any emotion or awareness.

"What are we gonna do?" Maggie whispered as she stood beside Ana in the doorway, looking down at her sister with tears in her eyes.

"There's not much we can do until your dad returns, just as long as they we keep an eye on her, I'm sure she'll be fine" Without waiting for a response, Ana turned into her wolf and jumped onto the bed, laying her head on Beth's hip. A smile formed on Maggie's face when Beth turned slowly and snuggled into Moonette's fur, earning a drawn-out purr from the wolf.

For the next few hours, Maggie and Lori would come in and out to check on the grieving girl but had no success when trying to talk to her. All the girl had done was lay beside the large wolf, running her fingers through her midnight black fur and burying her face into her neck, falling in and out of sleep.

"Here's some food, sweetie" Lori whispered softly, placing the plate on the side table, and when she received no response, she huffed and walked out. Moonette noticed the blonde girl eyeing the food and she could tell she was hungry and yet, made no attempt to move towards it. Moonette let out a small whine, nudging the girl's hand in its direction.

"I can't" Beth whispered, speaking for the first time since the incident at the barn. Moonette raised her head slightly, looking directly at the girl's blue eyes and let out another whine, one much louder and more drawn out.

"Okay... Only a little bit" She sighed and slowly grabbed the plate, placing it on her lap as Moonette moved away to give her some room.

"How did you do it? Live life after life, losing so many people along the way?" Moonette paused for a moment before transforming back into Ana, who appeared sitting at the end of the bed.

"If I'm being honest, I don't really know. It was difficult but I think it was hard for me because I didn't have anyone there to help me. Don't get me wrong, Mortem was a huge part of my healing but at first, I blamed him for a lot of the pain I was going through" It was silent for a few moments, the only sound came from her cutting up the chicken and chewing the food slowly as she was in deep thought.

"Why?"

"Why what?" Ana asked with a small frown.

"Why did you blame him?"

"I think I blamed him because he was the only person I could blame, he was the only one there and I went through the phase of blaming myself and it didn't seem to take away the pain, I thought maybe taking my anger out on him will help but it didn't, it made it worse. I have lost a lot of people in my life, Hunny, some in the war, some due to their careers and others, from natural causes. It took me a long time to realise that death is a natural thing, we can't escape it but what we can do is make sure that we live our lives the best we can. We may be in a horrific situation and I'm sure there will be many times when we feel like giving up but at the moment, you must think to yourself 'What will giving up achieve?' it won't bring our loved ones back and I know for a fact, they would want you to survive and push on"
