After a half hour of waiting, Sam went out to make sure they were okay. He called a few minutes later and told Charlie and I to come help him carry the boys down the stairs.
"CARRY?!" I yelled into the phone.
"I know. I know. They're not that bad. Mainly unconscious." Sam assured.
What's going on?
His voice wasn't its usual calming tone. There was no way they just had a couple scratches and bruises or he would have called Harper out too.
"I'm going to chew them out all the way back to hell when they wake up." I muttered, grabbing Charlie's arm and dragging her up the stairs with me.
"Of course Sunshine." Sam sighed with utmost sarcasm, "Just get up here."
When we opened the door I understood why he was worried: Cas was gone.
"Where's not-so-wings?" Charlie asked, looking around the driveway.
"Those weren't demons following Joy, they were angels and they've got Cas." Sam huffed.
"And you're totally calm about this how?!" I snapped.
"No idea." He admitted, "Charlie, stay with Dean till he wakes up. We're gonna go get Cas." He nodded to the car, signaling me to follow.
"So much for the bachelorette party..." I muttered as I passed Charlie.
"We can drink his scotch when you get back." She offered with a wink.
If the boys don't need it.
I hopped in baby and pulled up the laptop, pulling up the gps on Cas' phone.
"Thirty miles north. Babe it's gonna be easier to fly." I announced when it pinged.
"Got a blade?" He asked.
I nodded in response and hauled myself out of the car, "Let's go!"
-
Cas' phone was lying on the ground outside, you guessed it, a dilapidated old building. The first thing we heard was Cas' ringtone for Dean and the second was the sound of a struggle inside.
"Shit. You go around back and see if there's another exit." Sam breathed, sneaking up to the side of the building and shuffling along the side until he got to the door.
I sprinted around the back and went as far around the corner as I could but the bushes back there were so overgrown that there was no way anyone was getting in or out. I sunk back around just in time to see Sam slip in through the front door.
Damnit Samson can't you ever wait for backup?
I rushed to follow him, only pausing when a silence fell over the building.
Sam what did you do? If you're dead I'm going to raise you and kill you again. We have four-more like three fucking days.
I crept along the tile floor, following the glow of light and faint tracks of dirt that littered the floor. I found Sam crouched by a wall, looking through a crack. When he noticed me there he motioned for me to look through.
Cas and about three other Angels were at a stalemate. They were circling him as he stood at the ready, angel blade in hand and watching each of them carefully. When I pulled away to look at Sam he was gone. I whipped my head around looking for him behind me as I started to panick.
Just as I was about to call his name he poked his head around the corner and motioned me to follow.
When I got close enough he gave my forehead a kiss and whispered, "I thought you heard me leave. You scared me."
"You scared me." I countered, "But let's focus." I reminded him. We took our position by the door and took a deep breath before throwing the door open and rushing into the room.
Cas seemed more surprised than the angels but he recovered quickly enough to surprise one of them.
I didn't want to waste my juice for flying us home so I went in for the attack, swiping at the closest angel's torso. He blocked it easily and countered with a stab at my side. I spun out of the way and used my momentum to slash at his neck, making solid contact before feeling the blade slice through the meaty portion of his vessel.
Sorry.
He dropped to the ground with a gurgling thud and I heard a similar sound not long after, letting me know it was safe to let my guard down.
I immediately stomped up to Cas, "You'd better not be seriously hurt or I'm going to kill you." I warned him.
He smiled and rolled his eyes, "Just some bruises. They won't show in your pictures it's okay."
I gave him my best disapproving glare, "I'm not worried about the pictures Cas. I'm worried about you."
He smiled and gave me a quick hug, "I'm fine."
"Okay good." I muttered into his shoulder, "I don't want to have to lose you again."
Now that the immediate danger was gone I realized just how scary that was. We had just gotten him back, I couldn't lose him again.
I pulled back and patted his cheek, "Let's go home Uncle Cas" I joked.
"That," Sam said as he took one of my hands, "is weird."
I nodded, "Yeah. But so is the rest of our life." I agreed before moving the three of us to the front door of the bunker.
"Who were they? Why did they take you? Did they say?" Sam asked, holding Cas's elbow as he limped into the bunker.
"Jael's pawns. They were looking for the bunker. They had lost Joy and we found them trying to figure out what to do next." He hissed, wincing in pain as we helped him down the stairs.
"So now they know where we are?" I asked, getting worried about his winces and limping.
"No, Dean convinced them we had been at a meeting place." He sighed as we sat him down at a kitchen chair next to Harper.
"He's alright by the way. No concussion and nothing broken." She announced, popping a pizza roll in her mouth, "You need to figure out a way to send me play by play updates because I was worried sick.
"So sick you made pizza rolls?" Sam asked, raising his eyebrows as he inspected Cas' ankle.
"Terrified." She answered, completely serious, "Joy told me to eat because she heard my stomach growl. She's like Ehv but worse."
"That's because she's been a mother longer." Cas muttered.
I rolled my eyes and crouched down next to Sam, "Did he dislocate it? Or do that think it's a fracture?" I asked.
"Probly just a light sprain." He guessed.
I nodded and placed my hand over his ankle, focusing on healthy happy ankles. I felt swelling reduce soon enough and the heat coming from the damaged area started to subside.
I took my hand away when I was sure there was no more swelling and heat, "There. Now quit hurting yourself." I ordered.
-
"IS YOUR DRESS BOX IN THE TRUNK?!" Harper yelled, "I DIDN'T WAKE UP THIS EARLY TO LEAVE AND HAVE YOU FORGET YOUR DRESS!"
"Yes Harper. And my shoes and garter and veil and bra and matching panties and makeup and necklace and bouquet and the rings." I called, pretty sick of her pestering but glad she had everything together.
Sam came up behind me where I was waiting by the garage door and wrapped his arms around my torso, "Hey Sunshine, guess what?"
"Hmm?" I hummed, leaning back into him.
"We're getting married in two days." He whispered right next to my ear.
I spun around and slapped my hands down on his chest, "Holy shit! Seriously?! Why didn't anyone tell me?!" I exclaimed, voice thick with sarcasm.
"Well I thought if I surprised you..." He teased referring to what I had told him when he proposed.
I rolled my eyes and stood on my tip toes to give him a kiss which he eagerly returned.
"Okay you two, enough." Dean whined. "You've gotta be normal for two more days. Then you can be disgustingly cute."
We pulled apart and I giggled a little bit, giving Sam one more peck before running to go grab my hair stuff.
When I passed Harper's room she was standing next to the door, bag in hand, just staring at the wall of the hallway in front of her.
"You okay Harpie?" I asked.
She nodded and pushed past me, "Yup. Golden."
Liar.
I grabbed my hair stuff and hurried after her to the car.
"It's okay to not want to go home." I said as casually as possible as I walked down the hallway next to her.
"I'm home right now." She answered almost cheerily enough to make me believe her, "I'm just going to my mom and dad's wedding." She shrugged.
I gave her my bullshit look, "If you wanna talk or you don't feel comfortable just tell us."
"No, I'll complain to Charlie or Dean because you don't need the stress and Joy would tell you."
-
After the funniest, and possibly most cramped, car ride I'd been on in a LONG time, the six of us arrived at Rose Hill in stitches.
I kept an eye on Harper as we walked up the steps and knocked on the front door. When it opened she jumped and hugged the lady in a uniform with a squeal of delight.
"Mija! Where have you been?!" She exclaimed, hugging her back.
"Angelica! I adopted a family and now they're getting married!" She summarized, still not letting go.
I can relax. She's happy to be here.
"The Winchester party?" Angelica asked, pulling back and nodding to us.
"Yup!" Harper answered, bubbling over with excitement as she introduced us.
"Well let's show them to their rooms then!" Angelica suggested after we had all shaken her hand.
"I've got Samson!" Harper called, grabbing Sam and Dean's wrists, motioning for Cas to follow and tugging them upstairs.
"Oh my... Little Mija changed." Angelica muttered as she led us up the other staircase.
"Oh you have no idea." I agreed.
"Is she going to school? Has she made friends? How are her grades?" Angelica fired off her questions as she walked backwards down the hall.
"Yes, she made one really close friend and a couple iffy ones and she's averaging a b+." I answered with a huge smile.
"She's not afraid of de men anymore?"
"Not those ones at least." I answered, plopping my bags on my bed, "She wouldn't leave his side for a while." I added.
Angelica looked at me in utter shock, "My Mija? Did she tell you what her step papa did to her and her mama?"
I nodded, "Yes. Sam was furious. We still didn't tell Dean all of it. He's the extra protective one."
"Thank you. She is happy." She blubbered, hugging me.
"Uhm... For what?" I asked hugging her back in surprise.
"Helping her!" She exclaimed, struggling with her composure as she pulled back, turning to Charlie and joy, shooing them out the door, "I show you out before I cry!"
She closed the door behind them but I heard her wail in happy tears as she hugged someone else, thanking them in both Spanish and English.
"Uhm... You're welcome?" Sam muttered, "Harpie?"
"You helped my Mija! And you too!" Angelica sobbed.
I heard Dean exhale as she hit him with a hug, "Yeah, you're welcome. We wouldn't know what to do with ourselves without her though." He grunted, always one to comfort a lady.
"Oh my God guys stop!" Harper complained.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I will go tell Ernie you're here!" Angelica bubbled.
I smiled to myself and turned back to the room, finally taking it in.
Harper sure knows how to spend money well. This place is amazing.
