We spent the rest of that day just wandering around the grounds, listening to Harper tell us some pretty ridiculous stories. I spent the night in Sam's room regardless of the 'tradition'. I completely intended to spend the next night alone with my nightmares.
ALL the guests arrived the next day. My family (mostly just the closest thing to immediate family as I could get and Uncle Leroy because he was funny) all of our hunting buddies, and an angel or two showed up. Most of them stood around and drank and ate while the rest of us set up the charcoal chairs and mint colored bags of rice, the Christmas lights hanging above the 'altar' that was just a tree, the dinner tables with cream table cloths and a mint centerpiece, the chalkboards with sayings, all the cute couples, childhood, and family pictures, the fingerprint area for our sign in tree and last but not least we helped the staff set up the dance floor. All of it was mint, charcoal, or cream colored and it was beautiful.
By the end of the day everyone from the core party was exhausted. At the rehearsal dinner we didn't even bother saying anything more than "You go here, say your thing, then sit."
When we were content with Harper's ability to boss people around on the fly we told everyone to go the fuck to sleep and we would see them the next day at 3.
Sam walked me to my room like the sappy gentleman he is and rested his hand on the side of my jaw, "If you can't sleep toss this tradition down the toilet okay?" He asked holding my eye contact.
I nodded and fiddled with his tie that Harper had made him wear, "Only if you promise me you'll do that thing you did with your tie again tomorrow." I teased.
"What loosening it?" He asked with a small laugh.
I blushed a little, "Yeah it was kind of extremely hot." I admitted.
"Well, then I'll just have to wear ties more often." He remarked before pulling me in for a kiss.
I draped my arms over his shoulders and pressed closer to him, biting his lip and getting a small little moan.
"You're such a tease." He sighed, pulling back and resting his forehead on mine.
I raised my eyebrow at him, "Oh I'm the tease?"
Charlie poked her head out of her room, "You're both ass holes! These walls are nice but they're thin! Shut up!"
"Sorry!" I called, trying not to smile.
"Kiss her goodnight and go Sam!" She ordered.
I gave him another peck and laughed as he backed away down the hall.
"Remember if you can't sleep-"
"Sam I'm fine." I interrupted, waving before I slipped into my room.
I'm actually terrified but I'm too stubborn to tell you.
I got ready for bed and paced across the room for a while trying to figure out if the reason I couldn't sleep was because I was so nervous or scared of my nightmares.
When I finally did crash at around midnight I was in and out of sleep till 9 in the morning. I couldn't quite qualify my dreams as nightmares because as soon as something started leaning that direction I jerked awake. I didn't feel safe enough to face it without Sam there.
When Harper barged into my room full of excitement and giggles holding coffee I was glad for the distraction.
"Okay, so Sam said he would let you go down and grab breakfast first because we aren't letting you see each other till its time." She bubbled over with excitement as she spoke.
"Good, I'm starving." I grumbled, sipping at my coffee.
For such a nice place this is shitty coffee.
At breakfast I loaded up. I had heard stories all the time about brides passing out because they get so busy and don't eat. That was NOT going to happen to me.
Apparently Charlie and Joy had thought of this as well and both were equipped with a box of granola bars and chips and guacamole in their mini fridges.
I sent Joy to check and make sure all the decorations and table cloths were set right and paced around freaking out about everything that could go wrong.
"What if Jael tracks us and we don't even get to the vows?! What if I trip!? What if Sam changes his mind last second?! What if it starts pouring?! What if the playlist sucks?! What if I flat out vomit?! Why am I just now panicking?!" I squeaked, ending my rant by flopping onto the bed.
"You've always been a last minute basket case Ehvy." Joy sighed as she slid in the door and crossed to the bathroom to plug in her curling iron.
I whined in response and covered my face with my hands.
"It's going to be fine. As long as your dad doesn't show up in funeral attire, nothing can go wrong enough to actually ruin the wedding." Harper comforted.
"He would too." I muttered.
Charlie started digging in her purse, "Let's distract you!" She suggested, pulling out her box of Cards Against Humanity.
"Is Harper old enough..?" Joy started, trailing off when we all gave her stares of 'are you really going to finish that question?'.
"She's been to hell. I don't think Cards Against Humanity is going to fuck her up any worse." I reminded her.
Joy sighed, "You hunters...."
"It's more of a Winchester thing." Charlie corrected as she motioned for everyone to sit on the floor and started to deal.
We played for a good three hours and continued to play while Joy did my hair and Charlie did my makeup. Jordynn took SO MANY pictures we almost didn't need the photographer that just sort of followed us around the room. She was nice but it was weird.
We had to put the cards down when the dress came on. When the veil was securely pinned into my flowing curly hair I almost started crying.
"Joy I'm actually doing the thing!" I squeaked.
"Yeah Ehvy! Now stop crying!! Your makeup sweetie." She replied with a giggle.
After they got changed and dolled up there was a light knock at the door and dad poked his head in, "Sam wants to talk to the bride." He announced.
"But she's already in her dress!" Harper exclaimed, standing up and marching toward the door.
"This is actually great!" Our photographer piped up, "Just open the door really wide and stay behind it. It's great for pictures."
We did as she said and dad escorted Sam into position.
I stood with my back to the door gripping the handle waiting in anticipation to hear what he had to say. The photographer told us to keep quiet a second and snapped a few pictures before nodding to Sam.
"How did you sleep?" He asked.
I let out the breath I had been holding and a huge smile took over my face, "Not great. I'll live. What about you?" I asked, just now realizing how calming his voice was to me.
"Cold." He answered with a small laugh.
"Dean fought with me for a half hour on this for you to come ask her how she slept?!" Dad asked, crossing his arms and giving him a 'you're kidding' face.
I shot him a death glare and waited for Sam to answer.
"No. I- uh... I just needed to hear her voice..." Sam muttered.
I could picture him blushing and glancing around at everyone else in the room as the girls sang their chorus of aws.
"I'm really nervous too." I admitted reaching my hand out the the side of the door and gesturing for him to take it.
There was a brief pause where I almost said something before he took my hand and gave it a light squeeze.
"I love you." He said.
"I love you too." I replied, squeezing his hand back.
Harper's phone alarm went off, breaking the comfortable silence and signaling Sam to go get in position.
I stuffed a granola bar in my mouth and brushed my teeth before slipping on my shoes and following the girls downstairs and outside.
