"Tasha, us aadmi ki location mili?"
"Haan Sir, Nilesh Navi Mumbai ke south-end mein us factory ke pass hai", she said pointing ahead. "Jab use anticipatory bail mili thi, to uski baazu mein uske jaane bagair police ne ek tracker lagaaya tha kyunki police ke pass uske khilaaf thos sabut tha. Isiliye hum use track kar pa rahe hai. Woh dekhiye sir, woh raha".
"Vivek, ek kaam karo, tum aage se niklo aur factory ke right-hand corner se hote huye use pakadne ki koshish karo. Main aur Tasha yahaan saamne se chup kar aate hain. Dekhna bhaagne na paaye".
"Ji sir".
And after a chase involving running on foot, a jump over a car and a very dangerous crossing on train tracks, they were able to catch him.
"Tasha, isko zaraa bureau toh leke chalo. Dekhen zaara yeh aakhir kehta kya hai apne defense mein!", said Abhijeet.
And they dragged him forcefully the car, tied and bound him securely to take him to the bureau.
Abhijeet phoned Kajal while they were driving towards the bureau.
"Kajal, kya khabar hai?"
"Sir, khabar achchi hai. Humne Sonu ko giraftaar kar liya hai. Manohar khabri ki tip bahut kaam aayi. Bhaagne ki koshish kar raha tha par Sachin aur Fredricks ne use pakad liya. Hum use bureau lekar aa rahe hain".
"Very good news Kajal! Hum bhi raaste mein hain. Tum pahuncho jaldi".
CID Headquarters, 6:00 PM
"Sir hum sab ne puch-taach ki hai. Nilesh aur Sonu ke pass bahut strong alibi hai. Jab Kavin ko maarne ki koshish ki gayi, tab yeh dono kahin aur the. Toh yeh dono hospital ki video mein nahin ho sakte", Abhijeet said. ACP Pradyuman was about to respond when Vivek came running into the room.
"Sir! Sir! Abhi abhi khabar mili ki Purvi ji ke puraane ghar se goliyan chalne ki aawaz aayi hai. Junior officers ne jaa kar investigate kiya toh dikha ke jisne goli chalaayi khidki kholkar bhaag gaya hai!"
"Kya? Abhijeet, turant jaao aur check karo ki bachche aur Purvi theek hain. Aur Purvi ke puraane ghar jaakar bhi saboot dhundo!", ACP Pradyuman ordered.
"Okay Sir! Vivek, main apna gear lekar aata hun. Tum, Fredricks aur Tasha mere saath chaloge. Sab ko neeche gadi ke pass aane ko bolo, jaldi".
"Theek hai sir".
Kavin's building, 7:00 PM
As they entered the building, they were met by Junior officers Rahul and Snehal still in their civilian dress.
"Sir. Woh log jinhone ghar mein break-in kiya tha, woh bhaag gaye hain. Humne kuch evidence nahin cheda taakin aap aakar puri khoj kar sakein".
"Thanks Rahul. Pehle Purvi aur bachchon se mil lete hai ek baar. ACP sir ne kaha tha ki ek baar unke ghar ki security dekhna zaroori hai".
"Sir, unki chinta aap mat kariye. Hum main se do log hamesha isi floor par tenaat hai", Snehal reassured Abhijeet.
Abhijeet thanked them again and instructed them to continue their vigil as he and the others made their way towards Purvi's house. They knocked and waited. Purvi looked through the peephole and opened the door immediately on seeing them.
"Aayie sir".
"Thank you Purvi ji. Hum ek baar bas ghar ko dekhna chaahte hai ki kahin kuch hai toh nahin. Jaise aap ko pata hai, aapke puraane ghar mein aaj goli chali. Use shayad laga aap sab log so rahe the, isliye usne bedroom mein goli chalaayi".
"Ji sir. Bachche bahut dar gaye the awaaz sun kar. Maine unhe kaha ki koi pataakhe chala raha hai taakin woh shaant rahe. Abhi room mein hain, padh rahe hain".
"Aap bahut bahadur hai. Aapki cooperation ki vajaah se hum aaj Kavin ke kaatilon ko dhundhne ki koshish kar paa rahe hain".
"Array sir, main bhi toh khud ek....", Purvi stopped abruptly when she realized what she was about to say. Only Dushyant and Ishita knew about her past with Sameer and she did not want to reveal it to anybody else yet.
"Koi baat nahin sir. Main aapki har tareeke se madad karne ko tyaar hun".
Abhijeet found it a little weird when Purvi changed her sentence suddenly but then decided to ignore it. They checked the house once but found nothing untoward anywhere.
"Aapko goli ki awaaz sunne se pehle kuch alag laga ho yah kuch aur suna ho?", Tasha asked.
"Nahin, ma'am. Sab normal tha".
"Okay. Thank You. Abhi hum chalte hain-saamne ghar mein shayad koi saboot mile. Aap yahaan secure hain. Agar phir bhi kabhi zaroorat pade, toh humein phone kar lijiyega".
"Thank You!".
B-250, Formerly Purvi's Flat, 8:30 PM
"Sir, yahaan toh kuch khaas nahin mila abhi tak. Haan par is window ke paas ek lambaa baal gira hua mila hai jo dekhne mein kisi ladki ka lag raha hai", Fredricks told Abhijeet.
"Hmm..mujhe lagta hai jab woh khidki se nikal rahi hogi, toh kisi pech par ad gaya hoga. Ise sambhal lo forensics ke liye. Aur tumhe kuch mila Vivek, Tasha?"
"Haanji sir. Us room mein se men's perfume ki bahut strong khushboo aa rahi thi. Toh I think hum yeh safely assume kar sakte hain ki is ghar mein do log toh the-ek aurat aur ek admi", Tasha informed Abhijeet.
"Aur sir, yeh kuch drops mile hai, lagta hai koi medicine hai greenish tinge mei. Humne slide se sample le liya hai, forensic jaanch ke liye", continued Vivek.
"Good work! Abhi hum chalte hain, bureau pahunch kar ACP Sir ko inform bhi karna hai. Pata nahin dusri team ko kya mila ab tak? Do ghante se unse koi contact hee nahin hai. Bhagwaan kare sab theek ho".
CID Headquarters, 9:30 PM
"Kaajal, kuch pata chala?"
"Nahin sir. Abhi tak kuch nahin. ACP sir aur Sachin sir last known location par track karne gaye the par unko bhi koi clue nahin mil paaya hai. Woh abhi aapke aane se kuch der pehle waapis aaye hain".
"Theek hai Kaajal, main abhi sir se baat kar ke aata hun phir aage ka plan of action decide karte hain".
He turned around to go but somebody calling his name made him stop right in his tracks.
"Abhijeet!"
"Daya! Tum theek ho?", exclaimed Abhijeet rushing forward seeing blood trickle down his forehead.
"Main theek hun Abhijeet. Tum sab ko room mein bulao. Ek minute, haan..", Daya turned around, blocking a man from view who was hobbling in while leaning on Dushyant and Nikhil. Ishita, Shreya and Pankaj followed behind. By that time, Abhijeet had informed others. Everybody including ACP, Dr. Salunkhe and Dr Tarika rushed to the main lobby where they were all congregated. As Daya turned around, everybody stood stunned. Suddenly, ACP rushed forward and embraced the injured man tightly.
"Tum zinda ho? Bhagwaan ka bahut bahut shukar hai ki main tumhe yahaan jeeta-jaagta dekh raha hun!"
Everybody around them was staring at the scene. They had never seen their ACP so emotional but they also understood that for him each one of them was like his own child. So, they did not bat an eyelid.
However, before they had a chance to recover from the shock of seeing him alive, they were left speechless when he responded while hugging him back tightly,
"Ji dad! Main zinda hun aur bilkul theek hun!".
"Kya kaha tumne KAVIN? Dad?" exclaimed Dushyant and Ishita together.......
