6 months later, Dushyant and Ishita's home

The house looked resplendent adorned with flowers and twinkling lights. Dushyant had left no stone unturned to make his sister's marriage a memorable one. Upstairs, a beautifully decked bride stood in front of a photograph. Purvi looked gorgeous in a pale peach coloured lehenga as she said with moist eyes,

"Tumhaare kaatilon ko maine saja dilwaadi hai. Tumhein insaaf mil gaya hai Sameer!"

"Aaj tumse kiya waada pura karke main zindagi mein aage badh rahi hun. Tum hee kehte the naa ki agar mujhe kuch ho, toh main aage badne se hichkichaun nahin? Tumhe bus itna kehna chaahti hun ki tumhaari jagah mere dil mein wahi rahegi hamesha, hamesha ke liye. Promise karti hun ki main khush rahungi aur hamaari beti ka bhi puri zindagi khayal rakhungi!"

She wiped her eyes slowly and smiled at him. Turning, she saw Pihu and Rohan looking at her, all emotional from outside the door. Opening her arms, she gestured at them to hug her and they ran in to be enveloped in her embrace. As they hugged, Dushyant's voice echoed from downstairs.

"Purvi, jaldi aao neeche please. Sab rasme karni hain!".

"Aayi bhai! Chalein bachchon?", she held both their hands and went out softly.

As they came downstairs, Ishita said, "Purvi zaara vahaan darwaaze ke pass khado na, aise mehendi waala pose dekar. Ek picture leni hai tumhaari. Bhai insist kar rahe hain!"

"Kya zaroorat hai Ishi? Abhi nikal hee toh rahe hain na hum sab?"

"Array yaar Purvi. Ek minute ki toh baat hai. Ho jaao na khadi tum!"

"Achcha baba, yeh le! Jaldi kheench . Kavin baraat lekar aate honge".

"Koi toh bahut utaavla ho raha hai yahaan!", Dushyant teased.

"Kya bhai, aap bhi na!", Purvi blushed slightly and Ishita clicked a beautiful picture. As Purvi was about to move forward, a hand came over her eyes, stopping her in her tracks.

Recognizing the touch, she started crying freely.

"Yeh, yeh...."

As the hand was removed and she turned to face the person, he held out his arms.

"Baba!", Purvi hugged him tightly. Glancing up, she saw her mother crying happy tears as well. Purvi brought her into the hug as well. Ishita and Dushyant were visibly moved. They held the kids as all of them witnessed this blessed reunion.

"Ma, baba! Aap yahaan? kaise..kab?", she was still stuttering and amazed.

"Maaf karde mujhe bachcha jo itne saal tumse door raha. Tumhaari maa ne sirf mere kehne par yeh judaai sahi. Par is baar teen mahine pehle jab Kavin aur Dushyant aaye humein manaane, tab tumhaari maa se raha nahi gaya. Mere peeche padi rahi jab tak main maan nahin gaya. Aur ab sochta hun kitna galat tha main ki utne saal khud ki beti se door raha aur uske parivaar ko bhi door kar diya", her dad joined his hands in front of her.

Purvi held his hands and nodded her head in a 'no'.

"Nahin baba. Jo ho gaya woh ho gaya. Ab is baare mein hum aur baat nahin karenge. Bilkul bhi nahin", she wiped his and her mom's tears. "Aap waapis aa gaye meri zindagi mein, mere liye woh hee kaafi hai!".

"Meri bachchi! Maine tujhe bahut zyaada yaad kiya hai in saalon mein. Tujhe meri bilkul yaad nahin aayi na?", her mom asked her, hugging her again.

"Kaisi baatein kar rahi hai ma. Aayi. har pal aayi par apne aap ko rok liya milne se, bus! Lekin aaj bhai aur Kavin ki wajaah se mujhe meri nayi zindagi ka sab se bada tohfa mila hai na toh aaj puraana kuch yaad nahin mujhe!", Purvi hugged her back tightly.

Suddenly, she noticed Kavin coming in from the main door, all decked up in a peach coloured sherwaani to match her dress. As he came in, she ran to hug him without worrying about anything or anyone.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you KV, mujhe sab se best surprise dene ke liye!"

"Meri Puri ke liye kuch bhi!", he smiled back at her.

"Ehmm..ehmm. Vaise, bhenji, mera bhi kuch role tha na isme?", Dushyant enquired, pretending to be all jealous and offended. She gave him a hug too.

"Bhai, aap nahin hote toh kuch bhi possible nahin tha. Aap the toh main Pihu ke saath yahaan itne bade shehar mein aa paayi aur dekho aaj kahaan hun! Thank you aap aur Ishu ko hamesha mera saath dene ke liye!", Purvi said in an emotional voice.

"Bus kar pagli rulayegi kya?", Ishita's droll voice came from behind. Everyone broke into contagious smiles.

Kavin and Purvi both looked at each other, then gestured to the kids. Both kids nodded, held Ishita's hand and brought her closer. As they came level with Dushyant, Pihu held his hand from the other side while Kavin handed him some papers.

"Yeh tum dono ke liye, ek chotta sa tohfa hamaari taraf se", Kavin said while smiling at him.

"Yeh toh...yeh..kya hai Kavin?", Dushyant looked at him all confused.

"Hum sab ke naye ghar ke deed papers. Hum sab ek bade ghar mein shift ho rahe hain aur sab ikathe rahenge!", Purvi announced with a flourish.

"Tumhein kya laga Ishita? Us din tum jab upset thi, toh maine notice nahin kiya? Bhai aise toh nahin ban gaya main tumhaara! Tum dono ko follow kiya tha maine us din ghar tak. Khidki se tumhaari saari baatein suni aur phir woh papers phaadte hue bhi dekha! Maine tabhee decide kiya tha ki mera aur Purvi ka jo bhi faisla ho, par tum dono ab se mere, dad aur Rohan ke saath toh rahoge hee. Bus, tabhi se maine hamaare liye bada ghar dhundhna shuru kar diya tha. Kal hee deal finalize hui hai!", Kavin said slowly but gently.

Ishita looked at him and burst into tears. "Bh..bhai...!", she said and hugged him.

"Ishi, I am so sorry. Sab meri wajaah se gadbad ho gaya!", Purvi apologised.

"Kaisi baatein kar rahi hai tu? Tune jo kiya desh ke liye kiya. Tujhe hum kabhi doshi nahin kahenge!", Dushyant chided her equally gently.

Suddenly a voice popped up from the back."Kya ho raha hai yeh sab? Itni khushi ke mauke par yeh aansoo kyun hai bhai!", Purvi's dad said.

"Maaf kijiye maa-baba. Hum sab thoda emotional ho gaye the!", Kavin said, bending down to touch their feet.

"Jeete raho bachche!", both blessed him.

"Vaise, humein in do pyaare shaitaano se kaun milwaayega?", Purvi's mom said.

"Haan mom, sorry, hum toh bhul hee gaye!", Purvi quipped.

"Pihu, Rohan, yeh tumhaare Naana-Naani hai. Jaao, jaakar milo".

They both walked towards them, a little hesitant; but were engulfed in two warm embraces immediately. A big kiss on the foreheads from each of their grandparents and Pihu already started telling them her stories! Rohan took time to open up but he seemed happy too.

Ishita took up her phone and clicked several happy pictures of the kids with their grandparents..It was not until a phone call from ACP Pradyuman that their reverie was broken!

They all rushed out and reached the wedding venue. The entire CID Team along with ACP Pradyuman were waiting impatiently for them to arrive. ACP welcomed Purvi's parents as per the rituals and the kids did their 'gathbandhan' (traditional tying of the cloth signifying union of husband and wife). Purvi requested Dushyant and Ishita to do her 'kanyadaan' (giving the daughter away) along with her parents.

Ishita clicked a final happy picture of the kids with their parents as ACP Pradyuman and Dushyant looked heavenwards, thanking God for fulfilling their wish made all those years ago (see Chapter 12).

There was a new fragrance in the air as KV stole some furtive looks at his beautiful wife. She just blushed, her eyes downcast as the sun finally set witnessing everyone's happy faces.....
