CHAPTER 12 PICTURE ABHI BAAKI HAI MERE DOST-II

Next Day, Evening, 7:00 PM

Purvi, Pihu, Dushyant and Ishita stood outside a solid wooden frame door at the entrance to a large white mansion. As Ishita rang the bell, the door opened to reveal ACP Pradyuman who had Rohan beside him. Rohan smiled on seeing the guests and extended his arms to be lifted up. Purvi complied immediately. "Rohan bachcha kaisa hai?"

Rohan hugged her tightly in response. As soon as she put him down, he held Pihu's hand and took her inside the house. They both ran upstairs to Rohan's room to play.

"Aao tum sab andar. Puri team dining room mein hai", ACP invited them inside. Everybody greeted them as they went inside and ensured that Purvi did not feel out of place. When they finished dinner, they scattered around the dining room while Purvi went upstairs to make sure that the kids had finished theirs. She left them playing and came back and joined the group downstairs. It seemed that Purvi had gelled in very well with everybody. She was laughing and talking animatedly and seemed to be enjoying herself.

"Ishu, main zara paani lekar aati hun. Aap mein se kisi ko koi drink chahiye?"

Nobody wanted anything to drink. Purvi headed to the table with drinks. As she reached, she found Kavin was also there struggling to pour water in his glass as his hand was not fully healed.

"Ruko dost! Main daal deti hun", she said.

"Thank you Purvi. Mujhe aapse kuch baat karni thi".

Purvi looked at him with a steely glare. "Aapse?"

"Achcha baba, sorry, sorry. Tumse."

"Ab theek hai! kaho Kavin, kya hua?"

"Kal main theek se thank you nahin bol paaya".

Just as Purvi was about to say something, Kavin continued, "Nahin, kehne do mujhe Purvi. Tumhaare liye shayad yeh zyaada badi baat na ho, par mere liye tumne meri zindagi hee bachchai hai kyunki Rohan meri jaan hai. Mere liye Rohan aur ab mere Dad ke sivaay is duniya mein koi nahin hai. Toh tumne jo Rohan ka khyal rakha, yeh na jaante hue ki future mein kya hoga, uske liye main tumhaara sada shukar guzaar rahunga.Yeh ek pita ki taraf se thanks hai. Agar kabhi bhi main tumhaare liye kuch kar sakun toh mujhe zaroor bataana."

"Tumne ek dost ki tarah nahin ek pita hone ke naate thank you bola hai toh is baar mein accept karti hun. Isliye- you are very welcome! Aur mujhe kabhi kuch bhi chahiye hoga toh mein tumhe zaroor kahungi-yeh udhaar raha! But aaj ke baad hum dono ke beech koi formalities nahin-okay?"

Kavin, looking very emotional, nodded.

"Rohan bahut sweet hai, usne mujhe bilkul pareshan nahin kiya".

"Theek hai dost, yaad rakhunga! Abhi chalein? Kuch baatein puri team ke saath clear karni hai jiske liye dad ne aaj sab ko bulaya hai".

"Haan Kavin. Tum chalo. Main bachchon ko sulakar aati hun".

Purvi went upstairs to make the kids sleep and came back to the dining room. They all sat down near the big fireplace and ACP Pradyuman said, "Mujhe pata hai ki aap sab ke man mein bahut sawaal honge. Isiliye maine socha aaj ikathe dinner karke sabhi sawaalon ke jawaab de dun."

"Par dad.."

"Nahin Kavin, ab sab bataane ka waqt aa gaya hai. Kab tak aise chupa ke rakhenge?"

"Theek hai dad. Jaisa aap theek samjhen".

"Par Daya, pehle toh tum batao. hamaare liye toh sabse bada surprise tha Kavin ko aise dekhna. Hum sab uski cremation pe the. Toh phir yeh Kavin yahaan kaise?", Dr. Salunkhe asked voicing everyone's thoughts. They had all been bursting with questions throughout the day but had controlled themselves because of their work and other commitments.
