As the door closed behind her and she was out of the house's view, Purvi let go of her pent-up emotions. Her tears were flowing freely and she said to herself,
"Maaf kardo mujhe Kavin. Mujhe tumse aise baat karni padi. Par jo tum chaah rahe ho woh kabhi nahin ho sakta. Mere pass koi aur chaara nahin hai".
On the other side, Kavin had seen her disappear from view as she rounded the bend around his house. Generally not an expressive person, he seemed very disturbed today and even the staff around the house noticed it. Just as he was about to go to his room, he heard the door bell ring. Thinking it was Purvi coming back, he rushed outside to the infinite surprise of all the staff. As he opened the door, he saw Rohan, Dushyant and Ishita standing outside with lots of bags in their hands.
"Array tum log?"
"Kyun bhaiya, kisi aur ko expect kar rahe the?"
"Nahin, nahin aisa kuch bhi nahin hai. Woh, main..."
"Surprise Kavin uncle!", he suddenly heard Pihu exclaim while she ran out from behind Dushyant and held up her arms as was their tradition on seeing each other. Kavin picked her up affectionately but as he hugged her, Ishita noticed the sadness in his face and the slightly moist eyes.
"Bachcha party, andar nahin chalna hai kya? Aap log andar jaa kar muh-haath dhoiye. Maami aapke liye chocolate shake lekar aati hai", Ishita said.
Dushyant ushered the kids inside towards the upstairs washroom as Ishita rushed towards kitchen to get the chocolate shake ready. She soon came back to the living room and approached Kavin who was sitting on the sofa looking morose,
"Bhaiya, aapko kya hua hai? Aisa chehra kyun bana rakha hai?"
Dushyant joined them soon after having led the kids to the play room.
"Haan Kavin, main bhi notice kar raha hun, jabse hum aaye hain tum bahut udaas lag rahe ho. Kya hua hai aakhir?"
"Ishu tum Purvi ko phone karke bata do ki Pihu yahaan par hai. Use kahin koi pareshaani na ho?"
"Kavin, yeh tu kaisi behki-behki baatein kar raha hai? Purvi ko kyun pareshaani hogi?", Dushyant exclaimed.
"Dush, jaisa main keh raha hun woh kar please", Kavin responded, a little agitated.
"Theek hai. Theek hai. Main use bata deta hun", said Dushyant. He went to the other side to inform Purvi. Meanwhile, Ishita had gone and given the chocolate shake to the kids.
"Dono mast khel rahe hain. Kitna achcha hai na dono ka saath? Mujhe umeed hai ki Purvi ki speech techniques se aur Pihu ke efforts se Rohan zaroor jaldi bolna shuru kar dega", as Ishita said this, she noticed Kavin's grimace.
"Kya hua bhaiya?"
"Shayad yeh na ho paaye ab Ishu".
"Ho kya gaya hai tum dono ko yaar", Dushyant said as he came back to where both Ishita and Kavin were sitting.
"Wahaan Purvi bhi keh rahi thi ki Pihu ko hum jald se jald waapis lekar aayen. Mujhe bahut ajeeb laga. Aaj se pehle toh usne aisa nahin kiya. Use to khushi hoti thi Pihu aur Rohan ko khelta hua dekh kar. Kya hua hai Kavin tum dono ke beech? Ab toh bataao?", Dushyant asked, clearly agitated to see this behaviour on both their parts.
"Kuch nahin Dush. Bus jaise hee maine Purvi ko apni feelings ke baare mein bataaya, use pata nahin kya hua. Usne yahaan tak keh diya ki aaj ke baad hum nahin milenge. Maine usse wada kiya tha ki uski ichcha puri karunga aur ab mujhe uski baat maanni hee hogi", Kavin said but without any emotion this time.
