Screams and heat filled my body.
Burning.
Everything was on fire. People running all over the place. The building was collapsing in on itself.
Screams could be heard from everywhere.
"Maddison run!"
Some kids with severe burns hugging their limbs.
I watched as a beam collapsed onto an English teacher. Her leg was trapped. All the color drained from her face.
Tears started to stream down my face. Knowing I was the cause of this.
All because I was upset. Angry.
'It's not your fault Mads you can't control it' I tried convincing myself.
The fire alarm went off, ringing fillling my ears.
The sprinklers started. I felt a drop on my face.
The water from the sprinklers mingled with the tears strolling down my face.
My eyes shot open. I sat up and looked around the room.
I let out a breath of relief.
It was just a nightmare.
I internally groaned. They're back. I turned to the alarm clock on the night stand. 3:17.Not wanting to go back to sleep, I decided to go for a walk to calm down.
Today probably triggered them, I thought as I entered the kitchen. I quickly chugged a cup of water, satisfying the dryness of my throat.
I decided to go to continue exploring. I walked quietly not wanting to wake anyone.I passed the pool and court. I heard vague noises coming from the pool room. I walked back and down the hall, glancing into the glass walled room.
There he was. Andrew. Swimming. At 3 in the morning.
"What are you doing up" he said in a rough voice.
I didn't even realised I had walked over to the poolside. He was inches away from me.I let my eyes trail down his body. He had a few tattoos on his chest. His abs looked rock hard, and
were so perfectly toned.
Water trickled down his biceps. He wasn't flexing and they were still huge. More tattoos were littered across his arms.I quickly snapped out of my trance after realising I was checking him out.
My eyes snapped up to his. He was already looking at me. I could feel heat rising to my cheeks.
"Uhh-Whe-I-Umm." I awkwardly cleared my throat. "I couldn't sleep" I said, looking everywhere but at him.
Conscious of how close we were, I took a few steps back ; making the situation even more awkward.
"I know I'm hot but I didn't know I could make you such a hot mess" he said with a smirk.
And there he was. The prick.
I rolled my eyes.
"Nice pjs by the way." He looked me up and down, before he started walking over to his towel.
My eyes widened. I glanced down and moved my arms in a pathetic attempt to hide my stomach and chest becoming extremely self conscious.
I don't feel comfortable with other people around my exposed body, after living with my Uncle.
"Why are you awake?" I said in a monotone.
"not tired" he replied dryly.
"Ok." I turned to leave walking to the door.
"Where you going" I heard from behind me.
"Maybe the cinema." I said, debating whether to ask him to join.
"Wanna join?" I asked reluctantly.
"No. Listen Mads, you don't have to pretend ; If you want us in a dark room together you can just say so..." He said with as a mischievous smirk grew upon his face "...but then again why bother when you look like that."
"Why are you such a dick." I said, refraining from rolling my eyes.
"What the fuck did you just call me" he said moving towards me.
"You heard me" I replied, standing my ground. "We've known each other for a few days but for some reason you act like a cunt to me." I spoke as adrenaline rushed through me.
"Maybe it's because you can't keep that big mouth shut" he said leaving a small gap between us.
"Or maybe it's because you and your two brain cells have never had a friend before" I fired back.
"Or maybe you're a worthless ugly whore." he said in a harsh voice.
I blinked, mouth slightly ajar as I was taken back by his words. For once I was speechless.
His words hit me like a knife, I didn't know why. I had been called worse, I had dealt with worse, but, for some reason this affected me.
I shut my mouth and turned around heading for the door and straight back to my room.
I sat on my bed, my knees against my chest, while my back rested on the wall.
I didn't want to feel this way.
He was just another guy.
We barely even spoke, I've know him for a few days. But for some nauseating reason, I was affected by his words.
I released a deep sigh into my hands, which were covering my face.
I picked up the stress toy Linda had left on my desk and threw it to the wall on the other side of the room.
Not bothering to see the damage done, I lay down and turned over in my bed, staring into the empty darkness. Allowing my thoughts to consume me.
