Andrew's pov
I struggled to sleep more than usual with the thought of Maddison consuming my mind.
Seeing her break down today seized my heart; I felt the urge to be there for her...make sure she was okay.
But I shouldn't — I argued with myself.
I allowed my emotion to get the best of me as I found myself having a staring contest with her door.
I stood, debating whether to knock. She hadn't been out of her room since this afternoon, I just needed to speak to her.
My knuckle grazed the door. What if she's asleep? My conscious fought.
I gentle tapped on the door dismissing the debate.
I could hear movement from the other side, but the door stood still.
"Maddison..." I let out quietly, hoping for an answer.
Maddison's pov
I hesitantly opened the door recognising Andrew. I was met with his familiar piercing stare. His strong soothing aroma perpetrated my nostrils.
I looked up at him as a confused expression crippled my face.
"I-" he stopped and let out a sigh, running his hand through his hair.
"What do you want Andrew" I said lowering my gaze. I just wanted to sleep.
"Can I come in?" Andrew asks making his way into my room.
"sure" I reply sarcastically to myself.
I closed the door and turned around finding Andrew laying on my bed. His arms rested behind his head, allowing his biceps to bulge.
I joined him on the bed, placing myself on the opposite side, so I could face him.
We sat in silence for a few moments.
"look what I learnt in training today" Andrew let out breaking the silence. With an undertone of excitement he sprung of the bed.
I shifted my body so I was facing him. He moved across the room.
His iris began to emulate green. The sound of crushing reverberated while the ground softly vibrated.
Suddenly, a melon-sized chunk of the wall forcefully ejected towards me. Without thinking I raised my hand. A flash of red turned the chunk to ashes.
I gasped looking at the newly formed hole in the wall. I turned to look at Andrew; we shared the same gaping expression. He began to smirk, which made me laugh.
We both burst out laughing as I replayed what just happened.
"How can you even do that?" I asked after gaining my composure.
"Well my element is Earth, so I can use telepathy to move pretty much anything made from natural stuff."
"'natural stuff'?" I raised my eyebrow air-quoting him. A smile spread across my face.
He smirked as he moved back to the bed and sat next to me.
"Nice smile" He said as we locked eyes. Silence began to settle as his stare grew stronger.
"Not so nice breath." I retorted shifting my gaze back to the hole. I tried not to laugh.
"Shut up, you know my breath smells amazing" It did but he didn't have to know that.
"yeah tell it to those yellow teeth" I said looking back at him. We both laughed. It grew quiet again as we sat in the dimly lit room.
"What do you want?" I asked, still confused why he was here.
"Noah told me you were looking for a bracelet. I found this in the kitchen..." He said as he pulled out my bracelet from his joggers pocket.
I was speechless.
He held out his hand passing me the bracelet. Still in awe I took it hesitantly.
"I'm gonna head back to my room now, see you at training?" He asked while standing up.
"Yeah." I said quietly. I watched him walk towards the door, he slid it open then stepped out.
"Wait!" I whisper-shouted. He looked back giving me a confused look. "What about the hole" I continued as I rose to my feet.
We could see straight through to my bathroom.
"oh yeah." He replied. His iris' began to glow again. The wall contorted sealing the gap.
"Woah. Anymore new abilities your hiding?" He chuckled at my question.
I walked over, standing on my tiptoes as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders. "Thanks for finding my bracelet" I said with my head resting on his shoulder. I felt one of his hands gently place on my lower back.
We moved apart. "Its alright" he said as he hastily made his way to his room.
I walked over to my bed, resting my head on my pillow. We've spoken more in the last two days than the whole time we've known each other -- without fighting. I smiled to myself.
