2:57 am
I feel my eyelids peel open, the darkness of my room engulfing me.
The silence simmered in the air, while the moonlight from the window crept in, gently coating the edges of some furniture.
I stood up no longer feeling tired. After realising I had been unconscious for days I decided to take a shower.
After my refreshing shower I changed into some black shorts and an oversized T-shirt. Not liking the density of my hair I straightened it then pulled it into a slick ponytail. Once I had finished the room became quiet again.
I let the thoughts of the last week run through my mind when I remembered I haven't seen Andrew in days.
I find it weird that he didn't come to see me in the medical sector even though he's the one that brought me there.
Sighing to myself I decided to go for a walk, the silence of my room becoming too uncomfortable.
I contemplated knocking on Andrew's door but decided against it as he is probably asleep.
I quietly made my way around the campus embracing the beauty of the modernised space.
As I walked past the gym I notice someone in there.
I stop in the doorway realising it's Andrew. The sound of him destroying the punching bag in front of him echoed throughout the gym.
He's wearing long black shorts with red stripes on the side and matching boxing gloves. He stood shirtless his muscular physique gently lit by the led lights lining the room.
I walked into the room heading over in his direction.
"hey" I let out, quiet but confidently.
"What are you doing here." Andrew asks in a way that sounded more like a statement. His harsh tone made me smirk to myself — I'm taken aback by how rude he is even though I was in hospital and hadn't seen him for almost a week, but I decided to brush it off.
I swallow the urge to retort rudely, while the echos of his punches get louder and faster.
His anger radiated throughout the room.
"I just wanted to say thanks —" I say awkwardly then cleared my throat. "I heard you brought me to medical after I fainted" I added. The room began to fall silent. He turned to me with an irritated look smeared across his face.
I went on, ignoring his attitude, "I had surgery...something about internal bleeding in my che-"
"ok." He cut me off unbothered and uninterested.
He aggressively took off his gloves and threw them onto the floor then began to exit the room.
My mouth hung slightly open and my fists started to ball as I grew increasingly annoyed at his expression towards me.
I turn, slightly jogging to catch up with him as he walked in a hurried manner back towards the rooms.
"hey!" I say as I catch up. "Why are you being a dick?!" I ask, my voice raising slightly.
"You've been acting weird since you came into my room that one night, and you've been really distant - you and Noah. What's going on?" I ask as concern and frustration lace through me. His steps slow as he comes to a halt and then finally turns to me.
"Shut up Maddison." He says pushing me gently so my back hits the wall. "Just fuck off. Stop acting like you care, and pretending you know shit when you don't." He shouts at me. He slammed his hand down on the wall next to my head as the proximity between us decreased.
My eyes widen slightly at his outburst and I look down not wanting to be here anymore. The overwhelming feeling of sadness washes over me causing me to be loose all my confidence in that moment.
I feel ashamed that I let him raise his voice and get angry at me but I feel too drained to put up a fight.
He moves his hand from the wall then steps back. "Just go to your room and mind your own business" he says in a slightly less aggressive tone but anger still underlying.
I feel a knot in my throat as I walk to my room without saying anything or making eye contact, not wanting him to see how upset his words made me.
After I reached my room I gently closed the door and sunk into the bed sheets letting tears of sadness and anger overwhelm me.
