The streets were quiet and empty, as the dark night engulfed the city.
"Meet back in two hours" Noah stated as the team leader.
Andrew and Libby ran into the park, their silhouettes disappeared into the dark.Noah and I stayed on the outskirts, observing the streets.Noah walked slightly ahead as we cautiously made our way.
A low growl echoed down the street.
We stopped walking, Noah and I locked eyes sharing the same curious expression.
Silence settled as we began moving again. A loud step crushed the earth as the ground began to vibrate. Nearby trash cans toppled.
Alarmed, Noah searched for the source of the ruckus.
I felt a huge gust of bad smelling wind brush over my shoulders. I turned on my heel as I felt an unwelcoming presence behind me.
There stood a 7 foot tall juggernaut. Its scales, coated in a slimy substance making its orange color glisten. Its mouth hung sightly ajar, teeth protruding out in every possible direction.
The teeth were abnormally large and a discomforting color of a deep dirty red - as if stained by blood.
The monster was hunched over, it's spine jagged. Sharp, large bones forced their way out of its back, creating spikes . It stood on six legs, its disturbing glare burned my skull.
"oh shit" I let the whisper escape.
"Noa-" a claw wrapped around my body lifting me off the ground. I let out a scream as I was flung into a nearby building.
Pain erupted all over my body. I quickly stood up, trying to shake it off.
Noah's iris' glowed blue as he began to create a force field of water around the monster. He turned it to ice, trapping the monster inside. Noah rushed over to me.
"Are you alright" he asked worried.
"Yeah, all good" I lied as I stabilised myself onto him.
"come on that ice won't hold it forever" Noah stated wrapping his arm around me.
As we got further away from the creature, I shifted my body weight off of Noah allowing him to walk ahead.
I limped behind him, trying to hide my pain as I adjusted. We crouched behind a nearby truck.
"What should we do" I inquired. "We need a plan, Albert said to try go unnoticed"
"I'll lead it to the alley, can you fry it there?"
"Yeah" I said chocking down my worries. We moved apart.
I made my way over to the alley, preparing myself. I watched as Noah aggravated the monster causing it to chase him.
He allowed the monster to chase him into the alleyway. I followed in close behind, it was a dead end.
Letting the warm sensation of power overcome my body I focused my energy on the monster. I watched as flames devoured the mass in front of me, burning its body to a crisp.
Within seconds a pile of ash was left, Noah standing on the other side of it.
"Yes Maddie" Noah exclaimed with a wide grin smeared across his face. He jogged over to me giving me a high five. I couldn't help but smile at his excitement.
We slowly made our way back over to the ship to meet Andrew and Liberty, as the sky began to get lighter.
