Maddison's POV
5:47 pm
I opened my eyes, the harsh light impaling them. I tried to focus on the blurry figures surrounding me. A loud ringing erupted in my ears as tears began to well in my eyes. I closed them letting the tears fall.
As I tried to calm down I felt a wave of sleep washing over me. I slowly began to drift, allowing the indistinct voices to fade.
7:13pm
My eyes fluttered open, I sat up feeling refreshed. My eyes began adjusting to my surroundings.
I noticed Liberty and Noah sitting down in the corner of the room holding hands, as she rested her head on his shoulder. Before I could say anything the door burst open revealing Albert and Linda.
They were both in white lab coats, Bert carried a clipboard while Linda staggered behind him holding some equipment.
"Maddison you're awake!"Liberty exclaimed, rushing over to me, dragging Noah with her.
She ripped her hand out of Noah's and placed herself on the bed, embracing me in a hug, while Noah stood behind her smiling.
"Hey Maddie" he uttered, "nice to see you awake".
I stifled a dry laugh. "What happened?" I asked, my voice cracking slightly.
Tears began to fall from my eyes as the amalgamation of pain in my chest and thought of the last few days began to overwhelmed me.
Albert went on to explain that I had internal bleeding in my chest and had been unconscious for two days. He told me about how I had fainted then went on to explain the thoracotomy surgery they had preformed to stop the bleeding.
Linda informed me that I would have to be kept in this room and closely monitored for a few more days. She also suggested that I shouldn't train for a couple weeks.
3 days later
It's my last night in the medical sector. It's been 2 days of nothing. Everyone else has been busy with training.
Liberty frequently came to see me, making time during the day to hang out, while Noah swung by a couple of times to check on me.
Albert says I will be discharged this evening. I miss my room. It feels weird to call it mine, but it feels more like mine than anything I've had before.
The door slid open breaking me out of my thoughts. Linda walked in with documents and explained my medical procedures. She gave me a medication prescription incase of sleeping difficulties.
Liberty and Noah escorted me to my room, even though I assured them it was not necessary. We spent a couple hours catching up and playing cards before they left because it was getting late.
With nothing else to do and my eyes feeling slightly heavy, I decided to sleep.
