POV
X

I drive away from the shit motel feeling at peace with how the time spent with Millie went.

She has her guard up and understandably so. I fucked up and I have to pay the price for that.

My phone rings from the pocket of my jeans and silently pray it's Millie asking me to come back.

Nope, it's fucking Julian.

"What is it, Julian?" I ask harshly not even meaning it.

"Yo, Hugo is here and wants to talk to you," he says.

"Ugh great...okay I'll be there soon," I say annoyed.

"Julian, do me a solid, get Adria to the meeting too," I say sternly.

"Uh..you sure man?" He asks confused.

"Yeah I'm fucking sure," I say and hang up on him.

I pull up to the house, parking my car in the private garage. I get out, taking my time, and waking to the meeting room. I stand outside the door with my hand cradling the gold door knob.

Go time.

I open the door to see Hugo sitting in my chair again, his two guys on either side of him, Julian beside one of them and Adria looking nervous as fuck in the other.

"Hugo," I say as I pull a chair out and taking a seat.

He nods his head.

"What can I do you for?" I ask.

"I want to discuss this past weekend and our deal." He says rubbing his chin.

"Okay, let's get to it," I say impatiently.

"My daughter had a decent report until the last day, but because you showed your loyalty to me and did as she wished, I'll make you the deal."

Ha, I fucking knew it. I was being tested the whole fucking time.

"I only have one condition, you cannot be involved with that girl under any circumstances and I will the sign contract with you right now," he says picking up the pen in front of him.

I nod.

He extends his hand out for me to shake on the deal.

I stand up, keeping a straight face.

I lean over in front of his face instead and say, "Fuck you, Hugo."

He's shocked by my words as I knew he would be.

I sit back down in my chair and leaning myself back, bringing my feet up onto the table, crossing my legs at the ankle in an unprofessional manner.

I look down at my hands picking at my cuticles for fun as everyone is in complete shock unaware of what to say.

"You see Hugo, I know you've been testing me for whatever reason, let's call it loyalty as you just said." I shrug my shoulders, "I don't know, I don't care, but you are not my boss, you would've been a partnership, so my personal loyalty to you means shit. I wanted to impress you and make this deal so I did whatever bullshit you wanted me to even though it had nothing to do with the business. You're a piece of shit and you know it. You handed off your own daughter to test my loyalty and to see how high I'd jump when you asked. I became successful in this business before you and I'll be successful after you. So, Hugo, I thank you for showing me your true colors through all this. I decline a deal with you. I'd be a fucking idiot to partner with you. So with all due respect, get the fuck out of my house." I say removing my feet from the meeting room table and standing up.

"Oh and Adria, you're fired," I say cooly.

She looks shocked and frantic, she swiftly stands from her chair ready to say something but I dismiss whatever bullshit she was about to say. "Not a fucking word Adria, just be grateful I'm not putting a bullet through your conniving fucking head right now." I spit out as she sits back down.

Julian is completely stunned in his chair and I don't give a fuck about whatever is going through his mind right now, he knows in the long run this will be better for us.

I'm not working with a group that betrays me. Ghost and Adria are weeded out from the group and now Hugo could go fuck himself, he played dirty and when you play dirty you're left with a mess. I can't work with someone that sets me up.

I walk out of the room leaving them all in there. I feel a weight being lifted, I just dodge a bullet. I think my favorite part of the whole meeting was his request or more like demand for me to stay away from Millie.

I laugh to myself shaking my head as I walk through the hall, that'll never happen.
