POV
XI haven't talked to Millie since Sunday night and it's killing me, I've picked up my phone countless times to call her but never went through with it. I want her to approach me when she's ready. I've been burying myself in work, if I take another phone call I think I'll just lose my shit.
Since I haven't been traveling since the whole incident, I've been doing extra work in the meantime. Making a deal with Hugo would've brought in so much money but honestly how much money do I really need? I have enough money to get me through two lifetimes. At the end of the day, the deal with Colombia was just to emit more power to myself.
I hear a knock at my front door from the office I've been practically living in for days. Please be Millie..
I walk through the hallway half excited, half nervous for what she'll say. Please don't break my heart any further. I open the door but I am sadly mistaken when it's not Millie on the other side, it's Adria..
"You really just don't know when to quit do you, Adria?" I ask annoyed.
"Yeah, well, I've got something you'll want to see." She says matter of fact.
"I highly doubt that...besides I told you if there's something you want to relay to me, you go through Julian," I say getting angry.
"This isn't business-related, it's Emily Hill-related." She says and she's caught my attention.
"Yeah, I thought that might intrigue you," she says with a lifted eyebrow, squeezing her way past me and plopping a cardboard-like envelope on my kitchen table.
She takes a seat, making herself at home and it's infuriating me but I want to know what she has to show me, so I close the door and sit across from her at the kitchen table.
"I don't have all night Adria, get to it," I say even though I do have all night but I don't want her here longer than she needs to be.
She slides me the envelope and then crosses her arms over her chest expectantly.
I apprehensively turn over the envelope and rip open the top, nervous to see the contents inside. I reach in and take out multiple photos. I bring the photos in front of my face to get a closer look, and wow, I can't believe my own fucking eyes.
"Mhm, recognize the guy?" Adria breaks me of my concentration.
"Nico.." I say in disbelief.
"How did you get these?" I demand.
I look at the pictures again, Millie and Nico.. what the fucking fuck. They are holding hands outside of the hotel that I paid for.
"I hired a private investigator," she says simply, "Penelope told me she saw them on a date Saturday night."
"Yeah well, I already knew about that Adria, she ditched him for me, so these pictures are bullshit," I say full of rage.
"Oh, but they're not X, you see, these were taken tonight." She says with a sly smile.
That can't be true.
"No," I say shaking my head.
"Yes," she says nodding hers.
"She's not the little saint you think she is X," she says getting under my fucking skin word after word.
"What are the fucking chances?" I ask mostly to myself looking back at the photos.
Adria is right, in these photos, she's wearing different clothes.
She picks up a picture which is now spread out on the table in front of us. "Aw look at this one X, they're kissing," she says as if I'm not in love with the woman in these photos.
I give her a death stare.
"What? Don't kill the messenger.." she fearlessly says shrugging her shoulders.
"Nico.." I say again in absolute disbelief as I stare at the prick. Why do they have to look so fucking happy? She should be miserable right now.
"Apparently he goes by Nick now." She says pointing to Nico in one of the pictures.
Nico...he used to work for me. He lived here for two years while he was putting himself through college. He was uneventful, listened to what I told him to do, which was my dirty work, and mostly kept to himself. If I'm being honest with myself he was a good worker and a decent person compared to the rest of us.
The fact that he was decent doesn't change the vile feelings I have towards him right now. Right now, he's out with my girl. This motherfucker is going to pay if he knew about Millie and me and still pursued her. What makes me even more livid is that he's probably just the right kind of person for Millie.
"Nick?" I ask myself out loud.
"Yeah, apparently they work together. They were seen together late Saturday night and then again tonight." She explains.
"Late Saturday night?" I ask thinking back to Saturday night. Did she see him again after seeing me? What the fuck?
I'm really starting to boil over now, they have another thing comin' tonight because I am about to wreak havoc on their little date. Enough is fucking enough with this little game of hers.
But first, there's something I need to do.
I stand up from the chair and stand behind Adria, I put my hands on her shoulders and she puts her tatted hands on top of my tatted hands.
"See X, all she's doing is breaking your heart, breaking up this house, breaking our deals, it's all because of her. You don't need that, we can go back to the way things were." She says so fucking delusional.
I lean my head forward with my face brushing up against her long black hair and I can feel her smile against my cheek.
I whisper into her ear, "You're right Adria, she did break a lot of things, but you? You just broke the contract."
