I'm right here

The beginning

I watch a little girl play with a black haired boy in the snow. They're running around laughing and chasing each other. "Be careful you two!" A woman with snow white hair and red eyes yell to them. She's beautiful! I never seen a woman as beautiful as her, she's perfect! "Ok mom we will!" The boy answers. "Wait big brother!" The little girl tries to run with her tiny legs. "Come on Astrid!" It's me! "I'm trying, my legs are too small!" I whined. He runs back to me and picks me up. "Better?" I hum my tiny arms wrapped around him. He carry's me through the dragon city, people bow to us and speak out of respect. "Young prince just in time to try out my new dessert!" He sets me down and we walk into the little cafe. The two guards that are behind us stay close and watch closely. We sit at a table waiting for the treat. "Here it is, dragon passion is what I like to call it." The guards take our cake and taste it, they wait for a moment and finally handed us our cakes. I look at my brother confused. "They want to make sure it wasn't poisoned, it's their job. Even though many look up to us we still have enemies that hide in the shadows." The baker laughs. "I would never poison the royal family." Knight pulls me into his lap and feeds me. "I can feed myself!" I pout. "I know but I want to do it for you." I allow him to feed me since it seems to make him happy. He smiles watching closely. "How does it taste?" I began coughing and choking gasping for air, this alerted the guards to stand up and go after the baker who was getting nervous. "No, no, I'm ok!" I say quickly. They look at each other without speaking and sit back down. I drink down some milk to clear my airway. "It's really good!" I say and the baker smiles. "Try some." I tell Knight. He takes a bite and smiles. "I think this one is my favorite of all your cakes!"

After the bakery we continued walking through the city together. We stop at a beautiful white field. "Race ya!" He laughs already running. "No fair!" I run after him when I hear a small little chirp. "Blake?" I walk over to a bird with a broken wing. "She's hurt." I say. "There's nothing we can do about it, come on." He pulls at my hand but, I don't budge. "She needs help." I use both hands to scoop her up, I feel a surge of energy leave my body and I watch as the bird glow for a split second and she flies off. "I didn't know you could do that." I look at my hands in awe. "I didn't know either." He grabs my tail viewing it. "Your tail, it's no longer red, it's white and gold." He looks terrified. "Knight? Knight,what does it mean?" He takes my hand and runs. I stumble a bit a few times. "Knight, slow down, my tiny legs!" I see the guards running behind us to keep up.

At home our mother views my tail, eyes and ears. She looks me in the eyes again saddened. "It seems like the purity dragon has chosen you." I rest my hand on top of her's. "Why are you sad?" She wipes her tears. "I'm happy, Astrid, I promise, it's just..." she trails looking up at a dark haired man with dark skin and red eyes. "If people found out the purity dragon has returned they will come after her, possibly kill her." Mom shakes her head. "Everything will be fine, we will have to keep a close eye on her, that's all." I frown at their conversation. I don't understand, why do they want to come after me? Why do they want to hurt me?

It's been a month since we found out what I was and everything's been peaceful until today. "Mommy!" I scream. "We have to keep going, we can't stop, we can't let them get you." Knight is running beside us, dad is no where to be seen. "Where's daddy?" I cry. "He's protecting us sweetie, please don't cry, everything will be ok- ah!" All three of us tumble down a hill. "Are you kiss alright?" I nod as she helps us up. "I know what I need to do." Her body shifts into a beautiful white dragon and we hop on her back, she takes off into the sky. I look behind me watching our village disappear behind the clouds. "What about daddy?" Knight takes my hand. "Dad will be fine, I'm here to protect you now."

I wake up feeling mom landing on the ground. Knight wakes up as well and we look around shocked. Nothing but ice! "Mommy?" She shift back, her hair blows in her face , tears falling down her cheek. "This is the only way I can protect the both of you." I'm still confused. Knight doesn't seem to be phased, does he know what is happening? "Mommy?" I question. She pulls us into a hug kissing our foreheads before I felt something sharp and cold. "Ow! Mommy it hurts! It hurts! Make it stop! What are you doing?" She sniffles. "I know honey it will all be over soon, you will get used to the cold, I promise." Knight is not phased as ice builds on his body. "Be brave Astrid just close your eyes." I do what she say tears falling down my face. "Knight you know I have to separate you both for her protection. When the time comes find her no matter what and protect her with your life." "I will." She pats my head. "I love you both."

My eyes pop open gasping, I look at Knight as he pulls away from me. "I never abandoned you."
