my history shows a place
where my roots can be traced
that gives meaning to my face.
my face- evidence of a race
they still enslave--
they try to erase--
they try to annihilate--
they try to replace--
by copying-- imitate--
and thus my identity they take.
and still they violate
those that immigrate
though these are high stakes;
a high price to pay,
for a future to make
in the U.S. of A
been wanting to write a poem that expresses my identity and i think i've successfully done so. here's to black history and hispanic heritage
