Solaris had always lived quite a normal live. Sure her mother died in an accident when she was 5 but it wasn't 'unnormal', just heartbreaking. But what she didn't know was that she was different; not quite human. And nobody knew not even her, until one day...
It was 2005 and Solaris was 11 years old. It was an ordinary day.
She woke up normal around 6:30 a.m. and when she went into the kitchen her dad had already made her some toast and scrambled eggs. He often did that since her mother had died as he wanted to be the best dad and according to Solaris he is.
After eating breackfast she went to pack up her school supplies and said goodbye to her dad before going to school. She was actually quite good in most subjects but she still didn't like school, mostly because on good days her classmates just pretended she didn't exist.
Luckily this day was a good day so school was actually alright. In the afternoon she came home and made herself some pizza as her dad was out working. She did some chores, finished her homework and whatched some tv until the evening.
She was on the way to visit a friend and was just crossing the road when she heard a weird noise. Her head jerked to her right, so she was able to see a car coming toward her, trying to stop, but failing. Without thinking Solaris tried to jump out of the way, but her feet had barely left the groud when the car hit her.
She laid there unable to move, everything around her becoming a blur. The pain was unbearable and she could feel the blood streaming from her wounds. She tried to keep her eyes open, to stay awake, but it was hard.
After a few seconds she realised that her hands weren't just bleeding, but sort of glowing aswell. And the glow started to get brighter and brighter and with it the pain got even worse.
Her body felt like it was being ripped apart and put back together differently. And her head; her mind felt like it was about to burst and she saw flashes of her past and memories that weren't even hers.
After a minute or so, all of a sudden the pain stopped and the glow faded. But she hadn't died; she was still alive. But something was off, her body felt weird; sort of unknown and her head felt the same. She wanted to make sense of it. Figure out what was going on, but she was weak and tired and she couldn't stay awake anymore so she gave into the darkness and closed her eyes.
~ A few hours later ~
The next thing she knew she started to wake up again. Slowly she opened her eyes but the light was blinding her. It took her eyes a few seconds to adapt and she realised she was in a hospital.
She tried to make sense of everything, but she only remembered the pain and a faint glow. She did remember that she was hit by a car though, so how come she didn't have any injuries?
Nothing hurt anymore; the pain she had experienced was gone and she also didn't feel any bandages or wounds on her body. What she did feel though, was different. Her body didn't quite feel like it used to and her head was all different aswell. She didn't really know how to describe it, but it was deffinetly weird.
She laid in bed for a few minutes trying to remember exactly how she hadn't died and what had happened. And then the door opened and in came, ... a police officer?
Solaris was confused as to why it wasn't a doctor that came to see her, but she didn't say anything."Hello, how are you feeling?" the man asked.
"I guess fine, but what happened to me?" Solaris asked, desperate to get some sort of information.
"What do you remember?" he replied.
"Just pain and a light or a glow, but the rest is a blur." She answered. "But what did happen; I mean what did it look like happened."
