“So weh yuh seh...him ask yuh fi be him oman,”said Kayla as we walked up the stairs.

“Uh deaf or wah?”i said.

“Oh brah...big up yuh self yah Lia yuh mek e biggest whore inna e school settle down,"she said slapping me on my arm as she laughs.

“Wah wrong wid yuh pickney... yuh cyah laugh without haffi slap mi,”i said rubbing the spot where she had slapped me.

As we got onto the 11 grade  block,I heard someone calling my name. Turning around I saw Lano jogging to catch up with us.

“A so yuh walk fast,”he said finally catching up with me.

I looked at Kayla who was already looking at me with a small smile on her face.

“Um...mi ago sort out sumn wid one a e girl inna class here,”she said as she left.

I nodded knowing that she was obviously lying and then turned back to Lano.

“So weh yuh stop mi fah,”i said my heart literally racing.

“Yuh did look nice Friday night,”he said.

“Wait yuh did deh a Jay party?”i asked surprised.

“No but mi did still see yuh,”he said leaning up against the rail.

“Oh,”

“So yuh cyah gi mi yuh number?”he asked hesitantly.

“Um..sure,”i said taking his phone.

“So mi cyah see yuh later?”he said as I handed him back his phone.

“Sure,”

“Aitt then..lata,”he said trailing his hand against mine as he smiled and walked away.

I took a deep breath as I watched him go down the stairs. I went into class and Kayla wanted to know everything.

“E ask mi fi mi number!”i said in an high pitched whisper a shock of excitement flying through my body.

“No man...this year a yuh lucky year,”said Kayla.

“E look so,”i said overjoyed.

“Wah bout Ziddy? ”she asked.

Mi smile wipe off a mi face.

“Wah bout him...e use to dem sumn yah already,”i said quickly writing down the notes.

“But what if e change,”said Kayla.

“Yah hear yuhself yah know...memba seh a Zidane Baker we a talk bout eno,”i said looking at her.

“Nutting no too impossible nowadays,”said Kayla.

I rolled my eyes and smiled.

“Just like how yuh start like him which was so impossible, ”she said.

“El o mi no like him,”i lied.

I in fact did like him a tiny bit but if mi did haffi choose between him and Lano,of course mi would a choose Lano.

Our first class was finished and we were going to buy something to eat. Mi no see Ziddy from morning, a come e no come a school.

Me and Kayla ordered a cheese patty and a box juice,and then collected it at the tuck shop.

“Mi cyah badda fi walk go back up a 11 grade block come mek we go eat under one a dem tree deh,”i said.

We went to sit on one of the benches that was underneath the palm trees and started eating.
