New year, new rookies, new goals. When Katie Winters got up that morning, she didn't hear her alarm and found nothing to wear. Then her car didn't start, but to make matters worse, she still got to work on time.
Naomi Parker, a new rookie, got up on time and arrived at LAPD Mid-Wilshire in record time.
Katie Winters now waits for her colleagues Angela Lopez and Talia Bishop to join her in the meeting room. There she finds her seat next to her best friend Tim Bradford and waits for Sargent Grey to start speaking.
"We have fresh blood this morning. And what that pushes its expiration date. Get up. " Sargent Grey turns to the new rookies. "After 6 months together at the police school, you have the right to be here, but they have to prove themselves to stay here. It's important how we do it. So regulations and traditions are metal that we LA police officers are forged out of. Is that clear?? " As intimidated as the four new rookies stand there and almost pee their pants, they immediately answer in sync with a , "Yes, sir. "
"Time for the trainer game. Who suits whom?? Our nominees are Lucy Chen. Who delivered her first apprehended before taking up duty. The high-flyer Jackson West. Who broke his father's records in police academy. Naomi Parker, who always delivers her best. And John Nolan. Who was born when disco was dead. " Grey introduces the beginners.
"And the winners are Officer Bradford, they get our top man. Officer Lopez, they're going to get our golden boy. Officer Winters, you have our academic. That leaves Officer Bishop, who's riding with the 40-year-old career starter. Listen to me. It's your first day with us, so make sure it's not your last. Forget about the police academy and listen to your instructors. They show them how to do it. That's it! All right?! Take care!" says Grey before releasing everyone into the Service.
"That's where they work. Don't call it a car, because they're working.
Always check from the outside for damage first.
They log notches,
scratches or dents.
Did the suspect leave anything??
Money? Drugs?
A pile of shit??
Take notes!!Let's go to security check on the rifles.
Make sure it's empty. Unload. Stop the action. " the four trainers explain to their rookies and familiarize them with the procedures. Some are less friendly than the others."We have barrier tape, warning torches, nail bands. " Naomi gives an exemplary list of her trainer. "You make it easy for me, Officer Parker. " Katie praises her and then turns to the body chamber test.
"Now we are in the car. Log into the computer. Enter serial number. " "I test the lights and the sirens. " puts Naomi in the back.
"And in the end, you secure themselves. You're going to take to the streets with you guns loaded And have no idea what's coming for you. " Katie finishes the talk and starts the car.
"Adam-7-23. Armed bank robbery." it's coming from control over the radio in the car.
"Adam-7-23. Copy that." Katie responded . "And how do you want to proceed?? " her rookie wants to know about her, but with a grin, after they stop, she turns to Naomi. "I want to see what you can do. "
"Hands up and drop your guns!! !!" shouts Parker as she and Winters enter the building and the bank robbers approach them. It couldn't be simpler than that. Intimidated, the two masked drop their guns and the bag with the money. With ease, the two women arrest her and drive with them to the police station to deliver them.
"So why did you want to be a police officer?? " Katie asks the woman sitting next to them curiously as they return to the streets looking for a child in a car, just like their colleagues. "My parents are lawyers. They wanted me to follow in their footsteps, but I wanted to be on the other side. " Naomi explains to her when they are told by radio that Nolan and Bishop have found the child and he is alive.
For lunch, they meet with their colleague, while the rookies sit at a table together, Katie sits down with Angela, Talia and Tim. "How is your day, Angela?? " Talia asks her friend with an ironic undertone and sits down over by Katie, who is sitting next to Angela. "I saved a child. I'll do the paperwork tomorrow. "Talia added.
"Mhmm, you're cute when you're trying to piss me off. " she just grins back. "Try?? She already has. The way you piss them off. " Tim clarifies and drinks from his cup, while all the eyes of the three ladies land on him.
"What do you mean by that?? " Angela asks him. "You wanted to be a detective even as a child. Talia wants to be because it's a stepping stone to the top. And it pisses you off. That your profit-seeking gives you a head start, she now knows just as that her strong moral sense stands in her way. " he explains to the three what is only commanded with a "shut up.".
"I don't understand why you want to leave patrol duty. This is where you have the most fun. " He makes his point clear when the rookies come up to the table and put the food on the table.
Before Talia can eat, she and Nolan are called to the next mission.
Katie, who had been sitting there quietly the whole time, now spoke up. "I want to be a detective so that what happened to my brother doesn't happen again. " Angela and Tim didn't quite know what to say.
They both knew what had happened to Elliot Winters.
He was shot by a gang, and the detective in charge of the case said the perpetrator was acting in self-defense, even though his colleague had repeatedly made it clear that it was murder. The detective in question has been sued and is now in prison, but that doesn't bring Elliot Winters back.Tim carefully put his hand on Katie's shoulder to let her know that she had his support.
