It had been a month since Katie was back home. A whole month since the whole thing with Ethan. She and Tim had spoken with each other and were now together again, but somehow not, because this time she moved away from him. Since the thing with Ethan, she was no longer the same.

Once again she looked at the tattoo that adorned her skin. She had nothing against tattoos because she had already worn some before, but that was different, she had not been pricked voluntarily, with the best will. But she wasn't embarrassed or anything like that, it just showed that she had made it. She had survived. She, Katie Madeline Winters had survived, she is still standing here today.

"Hey? Can we go? Elliot is also already finished. We just have to take him to Natalie and Eddie. Carla takes care of Christopher and him," Tim asked when he showed up in the bathroom door. "Sure. I just have to get my cell phone for a short time," she said and 5 minutes later they drove off.

When Elliot was also delivered, they entered the district together, changed and then made it to the appeal. And everyone started clapping. "Thank you. Glad to be back," she told and quickly sat down behind Tim between Angela and Camila.

After the appeal, Camila and Katie also left right away. They should solve a murder.

"How are you?" Camila wanted to know worried about her partner and friend. They had met from time to time in the last few weeks to spend time together. "I would be better off if everyone didn't constantly ask how I'm doing. I'm fine. I'm still alive and I'm ready to work again and it's good." she replied annoyed and with that the conversation was over.

"So what do we have?" Katie asked the officer in front of her when they arrived at the crime scene. "Nancy Davis. 45 years. GWS in the chest," he answered her. "Are there any suspects?" Camila wanted to know and looked at the body. "Yes, the husband, Vincent Davis, according to his statement, he found her lying on the ground and then immediately called 911. However, we cannot reach the son. Noah Davis," he explained to the two and pointed to the husband who sat on the sofa and was watched by another officer.

"Mr. Davis? I am Detectiv Winters and this is my colleague Detectiv Baker. We would like to ask you a few questions. Can you tell us what happened." Katie asked the man. "I... I'm out of the house around nine this morning to go to work. Nancy couldn't go to work anymore, the chemo broke her immune system. and when I came home half an hour ago I found her there in the bathroom," he told them. "Do you know if your son might have been at home during this time?" Camila wanted to know. "You...they think Noah did that??? He would never do such a thing to his mother," he asked the two women in horror. "Calm down. We have to ask these questions." she tried to reassure him. "I haven't seen his last night. He... he is currently spending more and more time with his buddies... Logan Wright and such a Titus Smith or something... especially since we quarreled so much a few weeks ago," he explained to them and looked at the picture of his son standing on the dresser next to him. "What was the dispute about?" Asked Katie. "It was about him being on the road so much with his boys and thus also getting the wrong things. He gave us for money but... we don't have so much I earn just so much that it's enough for rent and electricity, we get our food from blackboards. He freaked out and ran away." he explained and then the questioning was over and the two drove back to the district to chase the names of the two boys through the database and to find out where Noah was.

In the evening they had solved the case, because they had seen the videos of the surveillance systems that were already installed. It was the son. Camila, Angela, Lucy and Nyla had persuaded Katie to go out together, but when a man came up to her and wanted to give her something to drink, she panicked and ran out of the store.

She felt like it was too early to go back to a bar. To face her fear that she will open someone new.

So in order to distract herself from her thoughts, she decided to let her friends alone and go to the district to do some paperwork. But she didn't expect Sergeant Grey to come to her. "How are you?" He wanted to know and sat down on the chair opposite her. "I'm fine," she answered and turned her gaze away. "Winters?!" He asked her and pulled his eyebrows up. "What do you want to hear? That I'am afraid to come home in the evening and sleep next to Tim in my own bed? Or that I double and triple check the doors if there are really closed because I fear that someone will come into my home? Or that I don't even manage to go to the supermarket alone without having to be afraid someone is attacking me? I can't anymore... I was declared ready and I also manage to go to work, but it's still like someone is waiting behind every little corner."

"Maybe you just need a break from LA," Sergeant Grey suggested and Katie looked at him questioningly. "What do you mean by that?" She wanted to know. "Sergeant Hank Voight has explicitly asked for her help, in Chicago. Maybe you should take this opportunity and do a break from LA. But only if you agree," he explained to her.

Something rang. Chicago???

Hailey worked there. Maybe it was good to see her?
