I sat at the bar in the ballroom and looked around for her. She was working tonight and I wanted to make sure she was okay. There's a lot of ruthless men in here tonight. I took a sip of my drink scanning the room but then there she was walking around with the champagne tray handing them out. She wore a cream colored dress and some matching heels. It was a halter dress that was backless showing down to her lower back. She damn sure didn't tell me this was what she'd be wearing. As she walked through the room passing out drinks I watched the men ogling her. I didn't know if I wanted to throw up or pull out my gun. She walked down the room and a guy stepped in front of her. I stood up and Alphonso came up to me.
"What?" I asked and his eyes followed my line of vision
"The guy who showed up at the estate. He's dead. They sent this." He handed it to me
I looked at the note.
We kill rats. Give us the girl.
I crumpled up the letter and put it in my pocket.
"Sir?" he asked
I looked up.
"I'll handle it" I said and he noddedI looked over to see the same guy that stopped her with his hand on her lower back. I hurried over to her but got stopped.
"Miles" She said smiling at me. She had on a gold dress that reached the floor. Blonde hair and blue eyes. Same cunning smile.
"Blair" I said annoyed
"I remember the days that you used to smile at me." She said
"Yeah that was before you cheated on me. Remember?" I asked her and she shook her head coming closer to me
"That's the past. Can we put it behind us?" She asked
"It's too much energy to hate you. I let it go. I cant find one single fuck to give" I said
"Can you find just one? I miss the way you used to fu-"Blair started
"Champagne?" I heard and it was Ellie standing there looking at me. She looked pissed.
Blair took a glass and so did I.
"Thank you" I said and Blair looked at her."Carry on" Blair said and I looked at Blair
"Manners" I said to her
"Well, thank you." Blair said rolling her eyes and Ellie nodded before hurrying off
I felt bad but I was still pissed by her and that guy. She let him put his hands on her. When I told her she was mine. She told me she was mine.
"So think about it and give me a call" Blair said leaning in close and putting her card in my suit pocket then patting my chest. She walked off.
There was a time when I'd go back and fuck her but now I couldn't care enough. There was room for only one infuriating woman on my mind. I went back to the bar and ordered another drink.
"Then I asked her what she was doing after this and she said nothing with you. God damn I could barely keep my hands off of her. I told her you shouldn't be working back there baby. You should be on my arm." I overheard and looked to see the guy that had his hand on her. I wanted to kill him.
I downed my drink and ordered another.
"Here she comes" I heard and looked to see her walking over to the guys with more drinks."Have you thought about my offer?" the guy asked
"No." She said avoiding my eyes as I stared at her
"What's your price?" He asked and I straightened up about to kick his teeth in but she saw me.
"Nothing you can afford" She said hurrying away from him and walking past me making eye contact. I followed behind her after downing my drink. She went into the kitchen and I followed behind her.
"Sir you can't be in here" Some guy said to me
I sighed. "Please it's been three weeks since i've killed a guy. I don't feel like adding to the list but I will if I have to" I said and the guy backed away from me scared
I hurried behind her and she went into the alleyway. I grabbed her arm and she snatched her arm away from me.
"Don't touch me." She said
"What the fuck is your problem?" I asked
"My problem. I felt humiliated in front of that blonde bitch!" She yelled
"Humiliated?" I backed her up into the wall "You felt humiliated? When you were flirting with that asshole while his hands were all over you. But me talking to an ex was where the line was drawn?"
She got quiet. I leaned my arm over her against the wall behind her.
"Tell me you want me. Tell me you don't want me talking to anyone else." I saidShe looked away from me and I made her look at me.
"Tell me you're mine. Tell me no other man will make you feel how I do. Tell me that when someone else comes along that I don't have to wonder where we stand." I said and she stood silent"Right" I said "You run and run away from commitment because you're scared that I'll be like all the rest. You're scared that i'll hurt you like all the other men in your life. Or you're scared of how you feel for me so you run. You're so scared to give me that part of yourself because you know that I'll be able to hurt you. You don't want to be hurt anymore. I get it. But your fear may lead to you missing out on one of the best things life has to offer. Love."
She looked at me as her eyes glistened.
"You're single. I'm single. There's nothing tying us together. That's the way you want it. You got it." I said walking back into the kitchen and into the ballroom.
"Hey man. How much did you pay for the girl you just left with?" The guy that was touching on her asked me.
This guy.
"I don't know... I think about five.." I said"Five?" He asked and I laughed and shook my head right before I drew my fist back and it connected with his jaw. The guy fell to the ground with his mouth bleeding and I shook my hand at the pain. I felt it lingering beneath the surface. It wanted to be let out. I grabbed the drink the bartender made for me before I followed behind Ellie.
"What the fuck man? I just wanted to fuck the bitch" He yelled still on the ground as people watched and I set my drink down. I held him by his collar and punched him in his face twice. Security ran in trying to pull me off him and I pulled away from them.
"Put your fucking hands on me again and you'll never remember what fingers feel like." I said to them with my jaw clenched. They helped the guy up as his nose was bleeding profusely. I grabbed my drink and turned around to see Ellie staring at me as she stood by the kitchen doors.
"That's what you want right!" I said to her pointing at him "For me to treat you like shit? I'm sorry I won't do it."
I downed my drink and slammed it on the bar walking out the damn hall.
