I drove Ellie back to her apartment because I knew I'd have to speak to Cameron tomorrow about this bullshit. I found out from Alphonso that she left with Cameron. I asked Christian where Cameron would be and he led me to the party. I could kill him for bringing her there. The worst of the worst mafia men were at that party. Cameron knew this and still thought it would be a smart decision to bring her there. I should have taken her home. I shouldn't have fallen asleep. I can't protect her when I'm asleep. "Are you mad?" She asked and I knew she was drunk from how she slurred her words

I shook my head. "Not at you" I said

"I'm sorry. I had a lot to drink. I should've been more responsible." She said and I made her look at me

"Darling no. I'm glad you had fun. I wish it was with me though." I said honestly

"You wouldn't have taken me to somewhere like that" She said and I nodded

"It's not safe. It wasn't safe" I said

"I'm not fragile. You can't protect me from everything Miles." She said

"Of course you're not. I just want you safe." I said

"Safe in your house." She said and my jaw clenched

"You're safer next to me and when you're with me. Cameron doesn't care about you like I do. He didn't see the risks. He didn't understand how dangerous that could've been for you" I said

"He wouldn't have let anything happen to me." She said and I was pissed.

"You're drunk. Let's just get you to bed. We can talk about this later." I said as we walked up to her apartment. She stopped at the door and saw two bouquets of flowers. She crouched down to pick them up and looked at the card.

"Because you deserve it. Miles" She read the card out loud and then looked up at me with tears in her eyes
"I'm sorry."

I crouched down next to her and she cried. I pulled her into me as she sat on the ground.

"What's wrong?" I asked worried that I upset her

She pulled away wiping her tears. "I'm so lucky to have you. To have your protection. That you care about my safety and keeping me from harms way. I've never had a man offer me safety and security and here I am criticizing you. I told you once when we were at the garden that I never gotten flowers. You remembered  and you did this. I'm sorry for what I said."

I kissed her temple and made her look at me.
"No you're right. I've been a bit overbearing. I'm not trying to make you feel like a prisoner baby. I lov-. I..uh. I care about you but you are your own person. I never want you to feel trapped" I stumbled and she looked at me and her eyes widened

I laughed and hung my head down. Fuck, not yet. Not now. It's too soon. But, I knew what I felt for her. I never said it because I knew she'd run if I said it to her. She grabbed my chin making me look at her.

"Say it" She said and her eyes glistened with anticipation

"Are you going to run from me?" I asked her and she shook her head no

"No" she said and I nodded

"I love you Ellie. I don't want to know a world that you're not in. You're everything I've ever wanted. I never wanted more than to have your heart" I said

Tears ran down her cheeks. She smiled brightly and kissed me on the lips. I stumbled back into the wall in the hallway. She crawled over to me deepening the kiss. I pulled her into me kissing her back. I pulled away for some air.

"Although it scares the shit out of me. Miles you have my heart. I love you too." She said and I held her face smiling at her. The feeling was surreal. If this was happiness then I never truly felt it before this exact moment.

"Miles" She said concerned and wiped the tear that ran down my cheek. I didn't even know I was crying. I kissed her on her lips. She moaned smiling. We were both smiling as we pulled apart.

"I love you" She said and I stood up pulling her up to her feet.

"Open your door." I said to her and she saw it in my eyes the things I wanted to do to her. That I wanted to show her how much I loved her. She nervously opened her apartment door as her hands with the keys shook.  I grabbed the flowers off the floor. I closed and locked the door behind her. I put the flowers on the counter and she hopped up on me and I held her as she wrapped her legs around my waist.

"Darling maybe we should wait. You're drunk." I said
