Ellie POV

Ellie Bellie: I love you. I'll see you later. Call me if you need anything.

I stared at the text message as I sat on the steps. Miles hadn't seen me sitting here listening to his conversation with Cameron and I was concerned. I never seen Miles so angry. I knew he was upset about Cam taking me to Christian and Lauren's house but I didn't know he was that upset to threaten Cam like that. I never seen that side of him.

"You done eavesdropping?" Cameron asked me from down below

I looked at him through the railing of the steps.

"Yeah" I said as he came upstairs and sat next to me on the steps

"Go ahead" He said

I looked at him confused. "Go ahead and ask me what you want to ask" He clarified

"Is Miles always like that with you?" I asked him and he shook his head

"He's pretty upset about yesterday. I can't blame him. I took his girlfriend to meet his friends before him. I would be pissed too" Cam said

"He said you never went to those things. Why now?" I asked him and he looked at his hands. He traced the ink of his tattoos with his fingers.

"I thought you could use some girlfriends." He said

"Why have you never gone?" I asked

He was silent for a while debating answering the question.

"I should go." he said standing but I grabbed his hand and he looked shocked. His hand curled around mine firmly and his thumb brushed my knuckles. He stood there just staring at our hands.

"Because I'm a loner. I don't do..friends. I don't do friendship. I don't connect with people. I don't know how. They invite me over and I never go. I pushed that aside because I thought that you deserved to have that. You're not like me at all Ellie. Although we're definitely both assholes, you never chose to be. Life made you one. You want to be included, be loved, be appreciated and around a bunch of friends and people who care about you, I don't care for it. I don't think I ever will. But I pushed my feelings aside for you. I know I've been terrible at this friendship thing between us but I want to make it work. I've never had friends or friendship before but with you I'm willing to try." He said and I felt the tears escape

He sat back down quickly wiping my tears.
"Fuck I...did I say something wrong?" He looked worried

I shook my head and wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him into a hug. His whole body stiffened and he wrapped his arms around me pulling me into him. I rested my head on his chest.

"Thank you for yesterday. It means a lot more to me knowing that. Although you've never had a friend Cam you're such a damn good one." I said sniffling and he stood quietly

I pulled away from him and he wiped my tears from my cheeks.
"Uh thanks" he said awkwardly

I've never seen him nervous before but I smiled at him.
"I know you have work soon. Why don't you get dressed and I'll take you." He said and I nodded

"I'll be quick" I said standing up and he looked up at me from his seated position

I went upstairs and into Miles room. I got ready quickly for my shift and came downstairs to see Cam staring out the window with his arms crossed. He heard my heels against the steps and turned to me.

"Ready?" he asked and I nodded

He opened the door and followed behind me as we went to his car. He opened the door for me.

"Don't you have work to do to?" I asked as I got in and he closed the door. He got in the drivers seat.

"Nothing important at the moment" He said driving off and I nodded

"I'm sorry about what Miles said to you." I said and he looked at me quickly then back to the road

"I've been told worse Ellie. It's fine" He said

"Doesn't make it okay. Does he seem different to you? Like he's acting different?" I asked him

"A bit grumpier than usual but no not really." He said "Did he say anything to you?"

"No he's been dodgy." I said

"What do you guys talk about when he gets back from work?" He asked

"Well yesterday he was upset about the party, but he didn't say much. We just fu-" I trailed off realizing I was giving way too much information

I looked over to see Cam's grip on the steering wheel get tighter.

"Yeah uh just give him some time."He said and his jaw clenched

I nodded. "Right" I said

We made it to the hall and I thanked him then walked off but he grabbed my hand.

"What?" I asked looking at him

"Nothing" He said and I looked at him

"You sure?" I asked him

He nodded letting me go. I walked off to get started with work. I couldn't help but let my mind drift to Miles.

Me: At work right now. I hope you're okay.

Three minutes later he had replied.

Miles: Everything okay?

Me: Yes. Are you okay?

Miles: I will be when I see you. I love you. I'll talk to you later okay?

I couldn't shake it but I knew something was wrong. I knew something had to be going on. Miles wasn't like this. I felt the shift. Could it be another woman? Miles was well Miles. He was an attractive man but I hadn't thought it could be another woman. What if he had gotten tired of me? What if he wanted a way out and this was the only way he could get out by avoiding me? I tried not to overthink the situation but the more I tried the more I felt he was distancing himself from me. I was so worried about him about us. I needed to find out before it ate at me anymore than it already is.
