Chapter 34

I stood in the shower as Ellie's hand wrapped around my waist. I turned around and kissed her. She moaned against my lips.

"Did it change anything?" I asked her nervously

She knew instantly what I was talking about. She knew I was talking about my past.

"I thought it would. I hate that you had to go through that. I hate what it did to you. I hate that you felt like you had to do that to get approval from your father. I hate that you're dealing with this now. I see you Miles, no mask, no gimmicks. It's killing you to do this. I know it. I just don't know why and you won't tell me." she said

"I can't. I know it sounds like an excuse but it's not safe for you to know darling. It's not safe for anyone to know." I said and she nodded

"I get it. I hate it but I get it. Please just don't let it ruin the man I love all sides of him." She said and I kissed her backing her up into the wall

"I'd fuck you right against this wall if I wasn't going to be late." I said and she smiled at me

"Rain check?" She asked and I nodded

"Of course. I'm going to fix this and soon we'll be having all the shower sex we want." I said and she laughed

I looked at her smiling. "There it is" She said and I looked at her as she ran her fingers through my hair

"What?" I asked

"That beautiful smile. I forgot about it" She said running her hand along my cheek. I closed my eyes and leaned into her hand.

"I'm sorry I've been a drab lately." I said and she got on her tippy toes to kiss me

"We can't always have good days Miles." She said

"You are my good days." I said to her picking her up in my arms to kiss her. "I'm lucky to have you"

She smiled against my chest and soon my alarm rang on my phone. I had to leave the house soon. She groaned.

"Trust me?" I asked her

She nodded. "I trust you" She said quickly pecking me and I deepened the kiss then pulled away.

"I'll see you later. Call me if anything" I said and she nodded

I stepped out the shower and wrapped my towel around my waist as she washed.

"Ellie" I said and she peeked out the shower and looked at me

"Yeah?" She asked

"I love you" I said and she smiled at me. I'll never get used to her smile.

"I love you" she said and I hurried out the bathroom to get dressed

Ellie POV

I went downstairs after getting ready. Miles was long gone and I smiled to myself after all the events of this morning. I finally felt me and Miles were in a good place once again. He had been so distant and fought his demons alone as they terrorized him. I hated that he had to deal with it alone. Im so glad we are closer. I had to speak to Cameron about this. Did he know about Miles' past?

I went into the office and saw Alphonso with some other guys.

"Ma'am" Alphonso said coming over to me

"Call me Ellie please. Have you seen Cameron?" I asked him

"Mr. Rossi was here this morning but then he left in a hurry." He said and I sighed

"Do you know where he is?" I asked and he looked unsure whether he should share that information with me

"Please I need to talk to him Alphonso" I said and he nodded

"Right this way Ms. Ellie. I'll take you" He said and I followed behind him with my bag on my shoulder.

After the 15 minutes drive I got out the car to see a bar.
"It's 12:30" I said to Alphonso and he nodded

He locked the car and was about to walk in with me.
"You can wait here. I'll be quick" I said and he nodded

"Call me if anything Ms. Ellie." He said and I went inside the bar

It was a nice looking place. Pretty upscale. I saw women dressed in short dresses serving drinks and the men in there all in suits. I felt way out of place with jeans and a sweater on with my boots. I looked around to see Cameron in the back corner with a bottle in his hand. He drank from the bottle as a woman sat next to him. Her leg was crossed touching his and her hand was in his lap. She was whispering in his ear while her hand ran across his lap. He stared at her like she was the only woman in the room. I debated going over there. What was I doing here? I was about to turn to leave when I saw him look at me. I did a short wave and I was utterly embarrassed. I sighed and went over there. The girl didn't notice me until I made it to the table across from them. Cameron looked at me and his jaw clenched. He looked at her and whispered in her ear. The girl looked at me and then got up to leave. He sat up and I looked to see what he was doing and looked away when I realized he was fixing himself in his pants.

"What are you doing here?" He asked grabbing his glass again and drinking from it

"Shouldn't you be working right now?" I asked

"Shouldn't you be fucking your boyfriend right now?" He snapped and I looked at him stunned

"What does that mean?" I asked

"Exactly what I said. You're worried about the wrong things Ellie. Go home to your boyfriend. Leave me alone" He said

"You're supposed to be my friend" I said

"I don't want to be your fucking friend! I never asked to be your fucking friend. This is why I don't do anything remotely close!" He yelled as he stood up and flipped the table over. I flinched and closed my eyes backing up into the wall.

The whole room got quiet. I felt closed in like I couldn't breathe. It was all too familiar. I felt him get close to me and I backed away. I opened my eyes and the tears fell. He looked at me regretfully.

"Fuck Ellie. I'm sorry-" He started to grab my hand and I moved away from him feeling the air rip from my lungs. I couldn't stand and slid down the wall holding my knees to my chest as I began shaking. He hurried next to me.

"Hey hey. Breathe Ellie. Deep breaths" He said and I tried to follow his direction "Good. Good. Again"

I breathed and finally felt the air in my body. I broke down and started crying. He pulled me into his hold and I cried in his arms. It's been so long since I've had a panic attack like that. Since Damian.

"I'm so sorry Ellie. I would never hurt you like that. Never. I shouldn't have done that. I should've controlled myself. I'm so sorry" He said and I pulled away.

I got up to my feet when Alphonso came into the bar and hurried over to me.
"Ms. Ellie are you okay?" he asked

"I want to go home please" I asked him and he nodded

"Ellie please" Cameron said from behind me

"You said you don't want to be my friend well you got it. You got your wish. Now you're nothing to me." I said to him and he looked hurt

I followed Alphonso out the bar as people stared at us and got back into the car. I started crying and Alphonso drove us back home.
