Quick Note: Hey another update so soon! =D The picture is the closest I could find to what I envisioned for the costumes, at least for the skirts for the girls the texture and color of the costume in the photo is not what I had planned and it is not shiny, but so you have an idea based on the description. The song is an old favorite 80's Halloween song (I think) 'dead man's party' oingo boingo of mine that I chose just for the holiday and the types of costumes I describe. The dedication for JenKristi she always votes but silent thanks lady! =D Enjoy!

Things were going great. The astronomy project was coming along nicely and well put together. The displays were piling up, we now had six poster boards of the sky and constellations that I drew and all of Jon’s elegant handwriting with all the facts and information.

I was scrolling through them as I got ready for the evening smiling to myself. Looking at them all now I could see why everyone encouraged me to go forward with my art. I scoffed to myself knowing that in a few weeks I would find out if it was worth it and pays off.

The last two weeks leading up to Halloween have been…peaceful. I took my dad and Grandpa’s advice and didn’t say anything to Tony about what happened and didn’t ignore him either. I just was a friend. I chuckled – he actually seemed a little afraid of the fact that I did not blow up at him. He was not questioning my change of pace. Tony also seemed to be doing better.

He had not gone out to party as much, he actually tagged along last weekend for the star gazing just to help and see what it was we did, he didn’t get in the way with any annoying sarcasm or commentary either.

Jon and I, well, it was nice. If we were not at school, working on an astronomy assignment, or Jon at his swim meets or practice, we would be together until one of our parents shooed us away to go home. Tony and Monique hung out with us from time to time too, plus helping my mom and I work on the Halloween baskets and our costumes.

The decision finally got made about which of us would be certain ninja turtles. Tony with his personality is going as Raphael – the bad boy and red mask, Jon is Donatello – the scientist and quiet one purple mask, Monique is Leonardo – the fearless leader and blue mask, mostly because I wanted to be Michelangelo – the outgoing free spirit orange mask.

We decided based on our personalities. Monique kind of got the short straw but she agreed with the rest of us that we fit the other characters much better. In a way she was a bit of a leader in our group. We each had our niche and she kept us together and on track that didn’t seem like your obvious leadership role, but it worked for us.

I couldn’t help the feeling that I was happy. I hadn’t been happy genuinely so, in a long time. My friends were all getting along, parents were cool, I wasn’t grounded anymore, and school was unusually drama free – for the most part, but I knew there were plots going on behind our backs mostly from Becca – I assumed.

I kept scrolling through the poster board displays, happy, feeling like I just might be falling…

“Abs, are you almost done?”

I jumped at my father’s voice through my bedroom door.

“Yeah,” I put the poster boards away back in my closet and rushed over to my mirror to finish getting dressed.

My costume was on and fit well, gold knee high leggings with some gold shoes and the green body suit my mom and I had designed a turtle shell on for both Monique and I following what the ninja turtles looked like as best we could. We wore green mini-skirts with tan make shift utility belts.
