102. As It Was

"And this," Madame Pomfrey smiled as she turned to the couple as they sat in the bed both waiting eagerly. "This is your little baby." She stepped forward placing the baby into Astra's arms before standing back to smile at the scene. "What a beautiful little family." Narcissa was standing in front of them snapping away on a camera she had brought with her to take come keepsakes. 

"Our baby," Astra smiled looking down at the little bundle curled up in her arms. It was an indescribable feeling. She never thought she could feel more love in her heart than she did for this little baby. From the moment she found out about him, she loved him. She wanted to protect him with all she was, and she knew she would lay down her life for him. But that was nothing compared to the love she felt for the baby now that he was lying in her arms. Now that she knew the shape of his nose and the curves of his little lips and his little fist was wrapped around her finger. "Welcome to the world, little one."

"I can't believe this is our baby," Draco smiled as he bent down to kiss the small little fist. "Our baby. We made this." He looked up and kissed Astra. "I love you," he smiled to her. "You made me a father. You gave me a family. You saved me Astra. Again and again you have saved me and I can never thank you or show you how much I care for you. How much I love you."

"I know that silly," she smiled leaning into him. "Just as I love you." She looked down at the baby again. "And just as much as I love you too," she whispered gently. 

"Now," Madame Pomfrey said clapping her hands. "Are you feeling up to visitors? Only there are several family members outside who are threatening to break down my doors if they don't get to see you all." She rolled her eyes as Draco and Astra giggled. 

"I feel good, and I would love to introduce everyone," Astra smiled as Draco nodded his head. 

The matron didn't even get to tell them as the door burst open and everyone piled into the ward all congregating around the little bed. Severus stood by Astra's head and leaned in to kiss his daughter before looking into her arms at his newest family member. Harry and Ginny stood next to him beside Sirius and Remus, both of whom were holding onto Andromeda and Teddy. Blaise and Maddi stood beside Draco as well as Hermione and Ron. Hermione was leaning on one of Ron's shoulders and Theo was leaning on the other as he held onto Pansy. Ron who was never used to the Slytherin's closeness didn't even question it but just sighed heavily. 

"That is the cutest baby I have ever seen," Harry sniffed. "How are you Astra?"

"Blissfully unaware of any pain," she shrugged. "It was all worth it," she cradled her baby closer before passing the little bundle to Draco to cuddle. "I am sure I will be sore later but for right now, I feel great."

"She was amazing," Narcissa said putting her hand on Severus' shoulder. "She did her mother proud today. Did us all proud."

"Mum would be so proud of you," Harry smiled, leaning into hiss her cheek. "So do we have a name for my nephew?" Draco and Astra looked to each other both giving a little giggle. "What?" Harry asked. 

"You didn't give him some ridiculous name did you?" Blaise scrunched up his face. 

"Says that dude called Blaise," Ginny pointed out making everyone giggle. 

Astra shook her head. "It's not that," she giggled again. "It's just...well it turns out that there was a little mix-up," she laughed and looked to Draco. 

"We are not sure what madame Pomfrey saw, but it turns out that he is actually a she." There were a few gasps and Draco continued. "We have a daughter."

"A daughter?" Remus sniffed. 

"Now Remus," Sirius rolled his eyes. "Don't go getting all... emotional," he could barely finish as he burst out crying leaning his head on Andromeda's shoulder as she patted his back soothing him.
