Y/N and Yelena walked through the crowded gala party. There were a few people sitting at tables chatting about either business or pleasure. A line had gathered near the catering table with different flavored deserts and hors d'oeuvres. A few of the couples were slow dancing in a large room to music provided by a symphony orchestra.
The two undercover heroes walked through the event rooms together. They looked around, gathering their sites and taking note of the security around them. Y/N noticed an elevator door down the hallway with what appeared to be a scanner next to it.
Y/N: There's the service elevator. Looks like we'll need a keycard to get in.
Yelena looked to the room where people were dancing and noticed a few guards standing relatively close to the patrons. She got an idea.
Yelena: Dance with me.
Y/N: What?
Yelena: Dance with me. We'll blend in and get close to one of the guards.
Y/N was starting to catch on to what she was saying. However, he looked at her sheepishly.
Y/N: I don't really know how to dance.
Yelena: I'll show you then. Come on, big man.
Before he could protest, she grabbed his hand and led him towards the dance floor. When they were among the crowd, she turned around to face him. She put her hands softly around his shoulders and he placed his hands around her waist. The two began to sway and slowly dance to the soft music.
Yelena: You're doing alright.
Y/N: Thanks. I'm a fast learner.
The two continued to slow dance, taking in each other's presence. Y/N soon spoke up again.
Y/N: I'll take it you're pretty familiar with this kind of party.
Yelena softly chuckled before looking back at him.
Yelena: Yeah. I guess you could say that. Although it's not exactly what I'd call my style.
Y/N: How do you mean?
Yelena: I've been to so many boring, slow parties on so many missions. Even in the Red Room we were trained to be majestic ballerinas and slow dancers. Just once I'd like to go to a proper party, you know? Maybe a night club or a get together. Somewhere I can just let loose and have fun.
Y/N: So less Beethoven and more BTS?
Now both of them lightly laughed at his joke.
Y/N: I'm kidding. That sounds nice. Also sounds like what I'm more familiar with myself.
Yelena: Really? You don't strike me as much of a party animal.
Y/N: You should have seen me in college.
She laughed a bit more before continuing to dance with him. The two had actually been slowly making their way over to one of the guards. When they got close to him, Yelena acted like she tripped over Y/N's foot and held onto the guard to steady herself.
Yelena: Sorry. My husband is such a klutz with his flat feet.
The guard nodded and she got back up. She and Y/N continued their dance as they made their way away from the guard.
Y/N: That was a close one.
Yelena: Just close enough.
She pulled out a keycard between her fingers, revealing she'd swiped it from the guard's belt when she pretended to fall. Y/N looked at her with wide eyes and an impressed smile.
