y/n ignored the call from shoto. she took a deep breathe. she cant get to calm herself down.
she goes to the kitchen and grabs the medicine which she doesnt take often but gives her instant relief.
she ate the medicine along with water. she waited for a few minutes but she cant see the medicine working so she takes another.
her anxiety only grows. within a few more minutes, she feels calmer. that was really weird. it never took more than 1 pill ever to relieve her anxiety. but she had to take more than four to five pills at once to do the same.
she looked at her phone. she picked it up. "are you ready y/n? i am waiting down in the car outside the gate" shoto said. she took a deep breathe. "...i'll be there" she said and hung up.
she went down and got in the car. "are you feeling alright?" shoto asked before driving. she nodded hesitantly. "should we go then?" he asked. she nodded. he started driving.
they drove to the hospital and they went inside. "good afternoon, how may i help you?" the nurse at the reception asked. "we're here to meet our mother in room 1203" shoto said.
"okay, are you two going in together?" the nurse asked. "yes" shoto replied. "please write both of your names and the relation with the patient" the nurse handed over a register and shoto did the same.
"come on" he said and took her through the lift to the floor. y/n is really nervous to meet her mother for the first time in twenty years.
they arrived. they stood in front of 1203. y/n stopped in front of the door. a part of her wants to go, a part of her doesnt.
what was she expecting on the other side? her mother? what will be the reaction? will she know that it is her her daughter, will she remember her? her name? her face?
shoto saved y/n from being consumed in her thoughts. he eld her hand like an elder brother he is. "lets go?" he asked. she squeezed his hand unsure. "i dont think i can do this" she mumbled.
"if you think that way, it wont help you ever y/n. you can, i believe you. you didnt make such progress just to hide yourself again" he said. "we dont have to stay for long. we can leave whenever you wish to, okay?" he said. she took a deep breathe.
he's right, its now or never.
"...fine" she said. its just the door that separates her and her mother for twenty years. all she has to do is open it.
shoto moved forward and opened it. "come on" he said and held her hand firmly and walked inside with her.
y/n stared at the ground as she entered. as soon as she looked up. she saw a huge room, it was like a hotel room only with hospital supplements. on the bed sat their mother looking out of the window. white hair, and fair skin. "mom. i brought you a gift" shoto said.
rei finally taking notice of a presence, she turned around and saw shoto and...y/n.
she paused in shock. "...y/n" rei said. that was the first time in years y/n heard her mother say her name.
a happy smile appeared on rei's face. rei tried getting out of the bed. "oh no, mom. doctor has restricted you from leaving your bed" shoto said. shoto took y/n closer to rei.
"i am...so happy, you finally came to visit me" rei said tearing up. "i wanted to meet you for years...and now this feels so...unreal" rei said sobbing.
shoto offered his handkerchief to his mother. he looks at y/n and she looks so frozen looking at her mother. she gave no response, either to her mother's words or her tears. she was in shock.
"we're...all together, thats what matters now" shoto said smiling. "yes...thats correct...t-thank you...thank you so much for coming. i feel really happy now" she said.
"i am glad i get to see you out of the tv screen. this is even better than that" she said smiling and trying to hold y/n's hand, but y/n pulls away her hand.
shoto notices the tension. "i'll get some juice for both of you to drink" shoto said leaving y/n alone in the room with rei.
"dont keep standing, sit down" rei offered a seat. y/n sat down still visibly a bit nervous. but only she knew how she was shaking from inside.
"it's hard to believe you're my daughter...you're so pretty" rei complimented, but y/n didnt reply to a single word. rei kept making up talks while y/n just listened. "i wish...you had visited me more often" rei said which was a trigger point for y/n.
y/n looks at rei and back down. "...why...didnt you come to visit me before, y/n...?" rei asked a genuine question.
y/n tightened her fist controlling herself from having an emotional outburst. "...i..." rei found hope as y/n began speaking. "...thought you didnt want to see me" y/n took a deep breathe.
"why...why would you think that. i would want to see you as much as i would want to see any of my other children" rei said hurt by y/n's words. she sees y/n looks upset. "...then...why did you only write to nee san, nii san and shoto" y/n asked.
rei's eyes slightly widened. "...i just...wanted to meet you in person..." rei said. "..but i accept it...it was a mistake from my end...please forgive me y/n..." rei requested. "that isnt the mistake...i was" y/n said.
y/n hasnt gotten over blaming herself for being the mistake that ruined the family.
"...what are you saying y/n..." rei was shocked to hear such bitter words from y/n. "n-no...please dont think that way-" "you have to accept it, there was no need for me" y/n said.
"we didnt have you because there was a need of you...we had you because...you were the last good thing that happened to us before...it all happened" rei said tearing up.
the door opened and shoto glasses of juice. he handed one to each. silence took over the room.
y/n stayed silently in the room as she heard shoto and rei talk. she starts fidgeting her fingers and gets nervous once again.
shoto took a notice of the restlessness. "y/n, do you want to leave now?" shoto asked. y/n nodded. "okay, lets go then" he said. "take care mom, i'll come to see you before the surgery" shoto said to rei. rei nodded. "thank you for visiting me y/n...i hope we'll be able to meet more after i get discharged" rei said to y/n. y/n didnt reply.
"take care" shoto said and left with y/n. "are you okay" he asked looking at her as they left the room. she shook her head covering her face with her hand, clearly stressed out. "its okay now, you did great today" he said. y/n holds her head unable to keep up with the pace of everything. "whats wrong, talk to me!" shoto said as he watched y/n slowly pass out.
shoto sat by y/n's side as she was passed out. the doctor came in. he had blood reports in his hand. "is she alright? what happened to her?" shoto asked. "yes, nothing to worry about. we have given her a shot of [some medicine]" the doctor replied. "although, whats to worry about is that she overdosed on a medicine that is usually of small dosages" the doctor added.
"which medicine?" shoto asked. "[anxiety medicine]" the doctor replied. shoto sighed. "is there any alternative for that?" he asked. "not really. but it is suggested to keep the daily dosage short, not more than 1 or 2 tablets. according to her blood reports. she had more than 6 in just 24 hours" the doctor replied. shoto nodded.
"we'll discharge her when she wakes up. please fill this form up" the doctor took a form from his nurse's hand and gives it to shoto. he nods and fills it up.
he sits besides her as she is still unconscious. her phone rings which is on the side table. he has a look who is calling her. its bakugo. he looks at her and then silents the phone and puts it aside. he doesnt know what is going on between them, but all he wants is y/n to be safe and happy.
