Prompt: Seungmin’s father left him when he was only four years old, causing him to get daddy issues. What happens if Minho, the school’s bad boy, stands up for him when he was getting bullied?

Seungmin sat alone at the back of the school cafeteria, trying to disappear into his lunch tray as the taunts and jeers of his classmates echoed around him. Ever since he could remember, he had been the target of their cruel jokes and teasing, all because he didn’t have a father. His dad had walked out on him when he was just four years old, leaving him alone with his mother and sister to take care of themselves alone. And ever since then, he had struggled with depression and feelings of abandonment and inadequacy.

As he picked at his food, trying to push the hurtful words out of his mind, he felt a sudden shove from behind. His tray clattered to the ground, food spilling everywhere as he stumbled forward, barely managing to catch himself before he fell face-first onto the floor.

Laughter erupted around him as he turned to see his bullies smirking down at him, their eyes filled with malice.

“Oops, sorry about that,” one of them sneered, a wicked grin spreading across his face. “Didn’t see you there, loser.”

His cheeks burned with humiliation as he scrambled to pick up his tray, desperately trying to ignore the cruel taunts echoing in his ears.

“Look at him, he’s such a pathetic crybaby,” another voice chimed in, eliciting more laughter from the group.

He clenched his fists, feeling a surge of anger boiling inside him. He wanted to lash out, to scream at them to leave him alone, but he knew it would only make things worse. So instead, he bowed his head and tried to block out the hurtful words, praying for the bell to ring and end this, even though he knew lunch time just started.

But just as he was about to reach his breaking point, a familiar voice cut through the chaos.

“Hey, leave him alone!”

He was surprised to see the Lee Minho marching towards them, his face determined. The bullies paused for a moment, surprised by the interruption, but then refocused their attention on the intruder.

“What are you doing, Lee?” one of them scoffed, crossing his arms.

The latter narrowed his eyes, his fists clenched at his sides. “He’s not bothering anyone, why don’t you jerks find someone else to pick on?”

The leader of the group stepped forward, his posture aggressive as he squared off against the redhead. “Or what? You gonna make us?”

He didn’t flinch, his gaze unwavering as he stood his ground. “Try me.”

For a moment, it seemed like the situation would burst into a full-blown fight, but the bullies quickly backed off, disappearing into the crowd as fast as they had come.

Seungmin stared after them in disbelief, still reeling from the unexpected turn of events. He had never seen anyone stand up to his tormentors like that before, let alone someone as intimidating as Minho.

“Hey,” the older said, his voice surprisingly gentle. “Are you okay?”

He blinked in surprise, unsure how to respond. Minho was the last person he expected to come to his help, especially considering their vastly different social circles.
