The bar was dimly lit, bathed in a warm amber glow. Seungmin hesitated at the entrance, his fingers tightening on the straps of his bag. He didn’t come to places like this—too loud, too crowded. But his best friends, Felix and Hyunjin, had practically dragged him out of his dorm, insisting he needed a break.

“Come on, Seungminnie. It’ll be fun,” Felix said, nudging him lightly. “You’ve been locked up studying for weeks.”

“Yeah, we won’t stay long if you hate it. Just one drink and we’ll see,” Hyunjin added, a mischievous grin on his face.

Seungmin sighed. “Fine, but no promises. If it gets too much, I’m out.”

“Deal.” Felix threw an arm around the younger’s shoulders. The music hadn’t started yet, and the chatter of the people around them filled the air, blending with the clinking of glasses. Felix led them to a booth in the back, where the noise was a bit more bearable.

As they slid into their seats, Seungmin felt that something was off. He was grateful for his friends, but their persistence to get him out tonight felt oddly specific. He squinted at them. “Okay, why here? You both know I’m not a bar kind of guy, and we literally could have bought beer or any other type of alcohol anywhere and drank it at my house.”

Felix glanced at the older, who quickly took a sip of his drink to avoid answering. The sunshine boy just shrugged, though his eyes were betraying his nonchalance. “It’s a good place to unwind. Low-key, you know?”

Seungmin narrowed his eyes. “Uh-huh… right.”

Hyunjin set his glass down, breaking the tension with a wave of his hand. “Relax, Min. We’re just trying to help you out of that study bubble. Trust me, no secret agendas.”

The puppy boy wasn’t convinced but let it go. They were probably just trying to help him relax, nothing more.

He shifted his gaze toward the stage, where a few people were setting up equipment. A low hum of anticipation filled the bar as the lights dimmed slightly. Seungmin raised an eyebrow. “Is there a band playing tonight?”

Felix took a long sip of his drink, nodding. “Yeah. I think you’ll like them. They’re pretty good.”

Seungmin nodded, leaning back in his seat, trying to relax. The night was supposed to be about relaxing, but his mind kept wandering. He thought back to him. He hadn’t seen Minho in what felt like forever. After their breakup, he had done everything to avoid places where the older might show up, but the memories always found a way to creep in.

“How are you feeling?” the oldest of them asked.

He sighed, tapping his fingers on the table. “Fine. Just...thinking.”

“You mean, brooding,” Felix teased with a smirk.

“Am not,” Seungmin shot back, though there was a small smile on his lips. Yet, his chest tightened at the thought of Minho. They had never truly resolved anything; their relationship had been left hanging by a thread.
