As the clock struck 8:30 PM on Christmas Eve, the Lee-Kim household was filled with a warm, festive glow. The living room was a cozy mess of cookie crumbs and milk glasses. Minjun, their energetic five-year-old, was buzzing with excitement, though his eyelids drooped with the weight of the day’s activities.
Papa Seungmin gently wiped Minjun’s face with a soft cloth. “Now, Santa won’t leave you any presents if he sees cookie crumbs on your cheeks,” he teased, earning a sleepy giggle from Minjun.
“Appa, did you leave the carrots for the reindeer?” Minjun asked concerned.
Minho knelt by the couch, his hands on his hips, pretending to think hard. “Oh no! I almost forgot! What would Dasher and Dancer think?” He grabbed Minjun’s hand dramatically. “Quick, Minjun-ah, help me put them out!”
Together, they arranged a few carrots on a plate by the fireplace, and Minho placed a soft kiss on Minjun’s forehead. “There. Santa and his reindeer will be very happy now.”
With the night winding down, it was time for bedtime stories. Seungmin carried Minjun upstairs while Minho trailed behind, holding a well-worn copy of The Night Before Christmas. The child snuggled into bed, clutching his favorite stuffed bear.
Appa Minho’s voice filled the room as he read the story, and Papa Seungmin ran his fingers gently through Minjun’s hair. By the time they got to the part about the sleigh and eight tiny reindeer, Minjun’s eyes were already fluttering shut.
Minho closed the book softly, leaning over to kiss their son’s cheek. “Sweet dreams, my little elf,” he whispered.
Seungmin tucked the blanket snugly around Minjun and added in a hushed voice, “Santa’s watching, so sleep tight, okay?”
As they tiptoed out of the room, Minjun mumbled, “I love you, Papa… I love you, Appa…” before drifting into a peaceful sleep.
Downstairs, Seungmin and Minho sat on the couch, gazing at the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree. Minho leaned his head on Seungmin’s shoulder, sighing contentedly.
“Merry Christmas, Seungmo,” Minho whispered.
Seungmin smiled, intertwining their fingers. “Merry Christmas, love.”
Moments later, Minjun silently slipped out of bed, his tiny socked feet making no noise as he crept to the staircase and hid behind it.
His eyes widened in wonder, his tiny hands clasped together in excitement. He could hardly believe what he was seeing—Santa Claus was real! The figure in the red suit, complete with a big white beard, was carefully placing presents under the tree. Minjun held his breath, making sure not to make a sound.
Seungmin, unaware of the tiny observer, stepped into the room with a soft chuckle, his eyes lighting up as he saw Minho, still in his Santa costume, moving around the tree.
“Well, well, Santa, hard at work,” Seungmin said, walking toward Minho with a mischievous grin.
Minho turned, a playful smile tugging at his lips, as Seungmin reached for the mistletoe hanging above the tree. “Santa, you know what this means,” Seungmin teased, leaning in closer.
Before Minho could protest, Seungmin quickly planted a kiss on his cheek, then, with a sudden burst of laughter, reached up to gently tug at Minho’s fake beard.
“Ho ho ho, still ticklish, I see,” Seungmin murmured, his voice filled with affection.
Minjun’s heart raced as he crouched low, his wide eyes reflecting the glow of the Christmas tree. He couldn’t believe what he had just seen. Santa and Papa—kissing! It was both thrilling and confusing, but it was something big. His tiny hands gripped the edge of the staircase, barely able to contain his excitement.
After a few moments, he gasped quietly, then whispered to himself, “I have to tell Appa!” He could hardly wait for the morning, already imagining the look on Appa’s face when he spilled the secret he’d uncovered.
With a mischievous grin, Minjun quietly scampered back to his room, careful not to make a sound. He climbed back into his bed, pulling the covers up to his chin, but his giggles couldn’t be stifled. He knew he was going to have the best story for the morning—the juiciest secret ever!

On Christmas morning, the excitement in the house was palpable. Minjun barely contained himself as he rushed into the living room, his eyes wide with mischief. He darted toward Minho, who was sitting by the tree, pretending to examine a present.
“Appa! Appa!” Minjun exclaimed, nearly breathless. “I saw Santa! And Santa... kissed Papa!”
Minho froze, his expression the picture of mock surprise, eyes widening dramatically. “Santa kissed Papa? Oh my goodness!” He gasped, leaning closer to Minjun as if he had just uncovered the most scandalous secret. “Tell me everything!”
Seungmin, who had just entered the room, couldn’t help but burst into laughter at the scene. “Oh no, Minjun,” he said, his voice filled with amusement as he walked over to the two. “I think you’ve solved the mystery.”
Minjun looked up, still so sure of his discovery, but Seungmin gently explained, “That was Appa, dressed up as Santa, just for you.” He smiled warmly, crouching down to Minjun’s level. “There’s no big mystery, sweetheart. It’s just a fun tradition.”
Minjun blinked, a little deflated but still excited. “So... you’re not really Santa?”
Seungmin chuckled, ruffling his hair. “Not this time, buddy. But I promise, the real magic of Christmas is right here with us.”
Minho grinned, pulling Minjun into his arms. “Santa’s magic doesn’t just come from his suit, you know. It’s the love we share that makes Christmas special.”
Minjun, still processing the information, giggled and wrapped his arms around Minho’s neck. “I guess that’s the best Christmas secret of all.”
